Sonic Chronicles may lead to more familiar franchises for BioWare's handheld division, according to statements made by Chronicles lead Miles Holmes. Holmes says that the company is considering DS versions of its major franchises, including Dragon Age, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect. "Basically anything that reinforces the franchises," said Holmes. His choice? "I tell you which one I would want. I want the Mass Effect one." He goes on to say that "a DS version would be an awesome way to keep interest alive and keep it going in addition to the next [Mass Effect game]."
Is this a confirmation of a Mass Effect DS sequel? Absolutely not, but it shows that BioWare is at least thinking about their own games on DS.

Actually, what it sounds like is that a DS version of Mass Effect (1) would keep the series alive for fans until Mass Effect 2 arrives. Bioware planned ME to be at least a trilogy right off the bat. A DS version of the first game would be a good way to promote interest in the second and third games for the 360.
I loved the first game, will definitely get the rest, including anything they come up with for the DS in between.

I hope this doesn't turn out like the Virtua Fighter 2 port on the Genesis, or Street Fighter Alpha on the Gameboy.

DS Fanboy,
Don't misunderstand me, I love you guys/gals and I love my DS Lite. However, I think Mass Effect on the DS would look awful (somewhat my opinion on GTA Chinatown wars also, I know we still know little about it but...) for the most part.
Now, perhaps a remake of Kotor (part I) would be a great idea. I think scaled down it would look beautiful on the DS.
Mass Effect is just HUGE. I don't see the possibility to scale down much there. It is a gorgeous game as well.

Hi, there's this little thing called 2D which can look absolutely brilliant with very little in hardware requirements.

2D can do a lot of things, and it would make the necessary size smaller, but it is very unlikely that even that down-scaling could reduce the size to the point of being able to fit onto a DS cartridge.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to play Mass Effect on the DS, unfortunately (unless they've invented some kind of new SUPER CARTRIDGE), the game will almost indefinitely not fit on a card for the DS.
It might be possible to fit it onto a UMD for the PSP if it were converted to a 2D format, but even then it would no doubt be plagued with poor framerates and (very likely) terrible pixelation.

This would be good because I don't have a 360 and don't like playing games on PC, so if it came for DS I'd definetly get it.

I could go for some Baldur's Gate or, even better, Icewind Dale goodness on the DS.

I wouldn't mind a Mass Effect side story or companion tale. I think the universe there is ripe for lots of exploration.

if Bioware puts a Mass Effect game on the DS, i will buy it on day one. the 360 original is my second favorite game of all time, after MGS4.
