If you were put in charge of creating a Mass Effect game on the DS, how would you do it? There are many ways to take an existing franchise and make a handheld game out of it, and basically the decision comes down to whether to make a shrunken-down version of the original game style or to make a completely new game.Would you make a 2D version of the original game, like Xenosaga I&II? A smaller side story with vaguely similar gameplay, like Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles? Would you dare to make a lower-polygon port? Or would you make a totally different game in the same universe, as Konami is doing with Elebits? How about the exact same game, but redone as an English trainer?
By the way, if you actually have been put in charge of a Mass Effect DS game, hi! We'd love to talk to you.

Once again, here I am with my turn-based-strategy pleas....
Warlords II and Heroes of Might & Magic 2 & 3.
Easy, nearly straight-ports of the PC games. In fact, the touchpad should be superior to mouse interface. And with 2 screens, it should actually be capable of near-PC like visuals, especially considering the VGA graphics of the 2 games. (well, HoMM3 might of had SVGA, but still it wasn't graphics that made that game so great and I am sure every fan would readily agree).

What style of game would be best for a potential Mass Effect DS would depend on whether the developers are seeking to bridge the gap between Mass Effect I and II or introduce people to the franchise. The former would have more freedom to experiment with a new genre as it would be targeting pre-existing Mass Effect fans. The latter would have to play exactly, or at the least very similarly, to the 360 version of Mass Effect if its goal is to give individuals a taste of what the full Mass Effect console experience is like. I can't really talk in less general terms as I, not owning a 360, have no idea what aspects of the Mass Effect formula make it the game that it is and what can be replaced or toyed around with.
The mention and image of Xenosaga I&II just reminds me of the permanent, gigantic middle finger Namco's raised to its NA/EU consumer bases :(

A Mass Effect spinoff would increase my desire to play the original Mass Effect, and I have horrible luck with PC games and there's no way I'm buying an Xbox. xP

Follow their own lead with Sonic Chronicles, it sets a good standard. The battles done in 3D, but the map as an isometric 2D adventure
