We're just going to continue thinking it's awesome until we play the final US version, for our own sakes. It's a lot more fun to watch videos like this (and several more new videos at IGN) and look forward to playing it. There'll be plenty of time to be disappointed later. And at least it isn't Commando: Steel Disaster.
We believe in Metal Slug 7 videos

The Japanese version is actually just region locked.
Using a rom patcher, you can play it on EU5 and US too.
I doubt they will be changing a lot, if anything.

All DS games are region-free, meaning you can run any DS game purchased in any country on any DS system purchased in any country (i.e. every japanese game will work on euro or us DS systems). Metal Gear 7 is just one of many DS games that was released with other language code in the japanese rom, and using a rom patch you can unlock the semi-translated engrish version. You can do this with Dragon Quest 4's japan rom, as well as Populous DS and quite a few others. This is diffrent from a user-made translation patch, in the sense that the other language is already hidden in the rom and you are merely replacing a text file within the rom.

I completed the Japanese version and its a fun game. The only problem is that its short and it lags here or there. But its Metal Slug on DS and its fun. A must buy, plus the Japanese version has english text in the game so its understandable.
