What if politics were more like Pokemon?

If politics were more like Pokemon, we would be campaigning for Meowth. How can you lose when your platform consists of being totally awesome?

But we digress ... One gamer has captured his view of this year's election lead-up with a mock Pokemon battle between the three presidential hopefuls. It has an obvious pro-Barack Obama slant and an anti-other candidates bias, but it's still clever enough to warrant a look no matter which politician you're leaning towards. Check it out past the post break as an animated GIF image and its evolved form, Youtube video!

2008's April Fools' DS pranks

Oh man, is that Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime over there, bringing you a giant bag of popcorn? It must be your lucky day!

Too bad it's April Fools' Day! You're not getting any popcorn at all! Nope, it's just another bag of the usual stuff -- disappointment, regret, and the simple pain of living.

Rather than spend your day weeping over missed opportunities and movie snacks, why not peruse our collection of April Fools' Day DS pranks? We've gathered up all of this year's handheld shenanigans we could find around the internet, providing you a concentrated punch of lulz to counteract Reggie's kick to your head.

Seizure brought on by DS game leads to banning crusade

After a boy in the UK fell into an epileptic fit from playing Rayman Raving Rabbids on the DS, his mother, Gaye Herford, protested to Parliament that there should be more vigorous safety testing for video games. Should her campaign be successful, any games that could potentially cause seizures will be banned in the UK and game developers will have to adhere to stricter safety standards. Currently, thirty-five Members of Parliament stand behind the proposal.

Ubisoft (the makers of Rabbids) responded by saying that the company already pre-screened Rabbids DS for the potential to cause epileptic fits, and the testing showed that the game was unlikely to do so. Managing director of Ubisoft UK Robert Cooper added, however, that the company has made the decision to now test all in-house games prior to release.

Gamecock says: Colbert for president

Unless you live under a rock, or a little place we like to call "not the US," you probably know that Stephen Colbert had a brief, but joyous, presidential campaign. Despite rising in the polls, Colbert was kicked off the ballot in South Carolina, effectively ending his bid for the White House.

The folks over at Gamecock, though, will not accept Colbert's "South Carolina setback," and continue to show him support. Gamecock, which is the publisher behind Dementium: The Ward and other DS-bound games, believes that Colbert has the best interest of gamers at heart, and that he is one of the few politicians that doesn't demonize gaming.

Gamecock's CEO Mike Wilson added, "Stephen Colbert had Will Wright on his show and he pummeled Nancy Pelosi's Mii in Wii Boxing. These decisive actions have earned our vote." As if we really needed another reason to love Gamecock, or Colbert for that matter.
