The Mega64 ad from yesterday got cogs in our mind turning. There have been a lot of good ones over the years, some of which have been featured here on DS Fanboy through Promotional Consideration. Like, this one. And this one. And this one we made ourselves. And ... well, you get the idea.

So what have been some of your favorite gaming advertisements? A random billboard? Some commercial you saw on TV? An ad you flipped past in a magazine? Out with it!

Nintendo sponsors UK Gladiators

To tell you the truth, we never knew you folks in the UK got your own version of American Gladiators. Growing up, we would catch the show after our usual dose of Saturday morning entertainment, as the sugar would take effect from all of the Lucky Charms we had while catching our toons, fueling our thirst to see folks get knocked into the water during Joust or tossed down several flights on the gigantic pyramid. Oh, to be young again.

But, hey, with the show's revival here in the States, it kind of feels like that again, if only a little. And now, with some thanks to Nintendo, our friends across the pond can partake in bulky men and woman tossing around scrawny participants, too! Nintendo has shelled out £1m to make sure you can get your Gladiator fix, ensuring that those of you watching in the UK won't get the annoying ads that we do in between the carnage. Instead, you'll see ads for Wii and other Nintendo-related goodies. Better, no?

Scrubs tackles Space Invaders

June really can't come soon enough, since we're dying to get our hands on Square-Enix's Space Invaders Extreme. In the meantime, though, we might steal J.D. and Turk's idea and play some human Space Invaders. If you could get enough friends together, it might actually be a lot of fun ... wait a minute, are we really considering this?

At any rate, Scrubs' return from the strike hiatus featured one of our favorite past times in a completely silly manner. It's not the first time we've seen human Space Invaders (or human Arkanoid, for that matter), but it's still funny and worth a look.

DS Daily: Born on TV

Popular television shows, for some reason, often seem to make it to gaming systems of all types. Not just game shows, either, but just as with games based on popular films, popular shows often get the gaming treatment as well. There are rumors of the Lost game heading to the Wii, and we recently ran across a press release for a DS game based on 1 vs. 100. It got us pondering things like that and Deal or No Deal, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and more, and wondering ... who buys these? No, scratch that; we actually know several people who enjoy Dancing with the Stars on the Wii. The real question is: do you buy them? Have you ever? You can tell us. We won't judge you.

Friday Video: Tuning in

GameBrink offered up some footage of the DS TV tuner, and we couldn't resist putting it in our video spotlight this week. Just realize: we do not have any for preorder, so please don't crash our servers or kill us or hurt us or anything, for the love of all that is holy. With that out of the way ... this does look pretty neat. Too bad it will probably never, ever come across the ocean.
