Square Enix has released screenshots of the new content in Chrono Trigger DS, including the two dungeons. Above is a screen of the most bizarre of the additions, the monster arena. In this mode you can control 50 different types of monsters and power them up to battle others. There's not too much that can be gleaned from a picture of two monsters facing off -- for example, whether combat is controlled by the player or determined entirely by the stats of each monster.
The dungeons include Dimensional Distortion, which spans across three time periods in one trippy dungeon, and the Dragon Sanctuary, which we hope wasn't a gimmick name. This dungeon takes place in the past and involves taking on quests to help the Reptites.

The Dragon Quest series has that "monster battle" feature for years. I'm not surprised it appeared in a Square Enix game. Fun fact: Chrono Trigger is the first game Square and Enix worked on together. Also, the artist for Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger and Dragonball are the same (but most people here already know that :).

@ SephFinale:
Artist for Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and Dragonball = Akira Toriyama. Learn it.

I was hoping for more dungeons, but I'm happy that we've at least got two.

Chrono Trigger has always been my favorite game, and to date the one game I've played through most (eight, going on nine, thought that's probably nothing compared to the more "hardcore" gamers.)
Even if it had no new additions, I'd still be getting it. I figure all of the additional stuff will have the feel of an "add-on," so I'm not really concerned with the battle dungeon monster thinger.
And as my Gamestop guy astutely observed- if its a port we need to get a regenerated interest in the series to anticipate a NEW installment, I am ALL FOR IT!
