These Tomb Raider: Legend screenshots certainly needed to be rounded up ... and immediately executed. They're not particularly impressive and the one on the right is notable for not featuring a tomb at all. Still, it's early goings for Lara's return-to-roots portable adventure, and if it's even half as good as the console outings, we'll be satisfied. We'd rather it be just as good, however, controlling well and featuring plenty of evil traps looking to mangle our beloved Lara's limbs. There's every possibility of that happening, but confidence isn't particularly prevalent when it looks like the touch screen seems to have been relegated to yet another glorified inventory menu.[Via GoNintendo]

skittles: It certainly does look like a psp. That's what I thought at first glance too.
This game will be in bargain bins a week after it comes out. A port of a game like this would be better suited for the PSP, and even that port was pretty halfassed, even if it was aesthetically pleasing. The DS version won't even have that to hold on to. Trust me, the game will be terrible.

Have you seen the PSP version of this? I have it, and trust me, the controls and camera suck completely. The levels are on par though. Also, have you seen Ultimate Spiderman on the DS? It's an awesome game, with great platforming. So sorry, just because it's not free roaming, doesn't mean it will suck!

Uhh no I have seen the Tomb RAider port on PSP and it kicked ass. I have really big doubts about this. I mean PSP has trouble with the camera b/c of the lack of second joystick and two extra top buttons, its a similar case with the DS. The touch screen looks like it will be just be used as weapons selection just like NSMB with the second item selection.
This will be just like the Burnout game. We all know how crappy that game was.

Uh, no. Maybe you've SEEN this game on the PSP, but I OWN this game, and it's really frustrating to play. I also have USM on DS, and played USM on my GCN, and both are great. The problem is that Tomb Raider on the PSP sucked because they shoehorned the port onto the PSP, making it really difficult to navigate in the game with crappy frame rates. On top of that, the analog controls has a huge dead zone, the jump and camera controls are a bit unresponsive, and a really tiny walk zone, making it really easy to run off the cliffs. The great thing about making USM on the DS a 2D platformer was that they took full advantage of the DS, but avoided the weaknesses.
So, just because Tomb Raider on the DS means no free roaming, doesn't mean it will suck. Your apples to oranges comparison (and Andrew's reason) doesn't hold water.

Yes, and that's why they still USM DS at the full 25 pounds here at Virgin Megastore London, while Tomb Raider PSP has already been slashed from 35 pounds to 20 pounds. Or the fact that USM DS scored higher (78) on www.metacritic.com than Tomb Raider PSP (68). So yes, it is your bad. Maybe people researching in the field of Jamesology should do more research than rely on fanatical faith :P
