I have to admit, I'm not all that impressed. Maybe it's the white color or bland arrangement of the 4 characters on the unit. Regardless, I would've liked to have seen some of the wonderful boxart make its way onto the handheld. Personal taste aside, this is sure to kill in Japan when it releases bundled with the game.

When you open it up all the characters will be upside down. That was the best thing about the DS Lite logo, it looked good no matter which way you viewed it.

I have to agree (with David Hinkle).
This is the 1st Final Fantasy special system ever that I went "Meh" when I saw it.

Thats just kinda sad how bad that looks. I'd very much prefer to not have that on my DS. At first look I thought it was photoshopped on it looks so bad. Also why does everyone hate on the white DS now and praise all the other colors like black. I love my white DS lite.

Maybe people are rebelling against its similarity to an iPod. I personally just don't like the color white on electronics, including things like the X-Box 360. In my opinion Nintendo should have released at least two colors in the US so we could at least have a choice. Not everyone likes fitting into the crowd. I want to be able to tell my DS apart from other people's.

I would have paid a premium to have a plain white DS Lite instead of that design; luckily, I didn't have to.

there isn't the possibility that the image is a fake or something? I think so because of the upside down characters and the low quality of the image (expecialy around each character)

The image looks a lot better when you get it off the offical Japan Nintendo website. It's been cropped to display on Joystiq.
