Obviously, wireless tube extension technology was only in its infancy here in America when Opera released its own internet browser for the Nintendo DS mid-last year. Tucked away in a laundry list of releases, however, we've noted that Opera has finally decided to port the darn thing over for our enjoyment, coming on June 4th.Though no pricing has yet been revealed, one has to wonder exactly how many of these they're going to sell. It's nice to be able to browse in a hotspot without the bulk of a laptop, but as our sister site Joystiq notes, it lacks Flash, sound, PDF, and video support. Exactly how badly do you want to check up on DS Fanboy every hour?

I believe when you guys said "when Opera released its own internet browser for the Nintendo DS mid-last year" you probably meant the Wii, not the DS right?

#2: No. Opera made a DS browser a while ago, which was strangely released only in Europe and Japan.

Well you'd think with the time that its been since release in Japan and Europe that they would have made some improvements. I guess not. I imported it from the UK via ebay...its OK, lack of flash does suck, as Im sure some kind of online mini apps could be built for the DS to interact with, but its still functions pretty well in most cases.

This has actually been available in Australia for a few months now and comes with the memory expansion pak - something I have not heard a mention of since the release.
Still I haven't found the need for it - I have to reconfigure my wireless network anyway - but the memory expansion pak is seemingly attracting me to the purchase.
From the cost of the kit over here, it's $69.95 AU for the browser and memory but I've also heard you can get the browser alone for $49.95 AU so I'm not sure if you can get the memory expansion for $20.00AU but if it works with other games then why don't they release it on it's own?

I'll grab it. It'll be nice to check porn/e-mail/news on the on the go, and I don't feel like springing for a laptop.

I'm using it right now. I imported the EU version awhile ago and find it pretty useful. I dig checking email and news on it and can deal with the bare bones multimedia capabilities (read: none). Yes, DS Fanboy loads quite nicely!
That being said, I think I'd pass on the US version if the price point is higher than $30. At the time of my import I, GASP, was without my laptop for a stretch of time and it got me through the internet withdrawl shakes.
