Continuing this week's theme, we've got a big question: what's your favorite game ever? Yes, ever -- not just on the DS, but all time. That's a tough one, and we'll look the other way (just this once) if you guys can't narrow it down to just done. You little scamps tend to cheat and slip in ties for first place anyway. We expect to hear about several Zelda titles, and perhaps a few Metroids, and hope for a Castlevania or two, but it's the offbeat favorites that are always interesting, so be prepared to explain.

I've been playing games for so many years that it's nearly impossible to narrow it down to one. Though Animal Crossing, Rad Racer and A Link to the Past are teetering neer the number one position, after a full ten minutes of careful thought, I would have to say that my favorite game of all time is:
Ghosts N' Goblins.
I've got so many warm, fuzzy memories of the game from my childhood. My Dad would take me, my brother and my little sister out to breakfast every Sunday morning so my Mom could get some extra sleep. Afterwards, we'd go to a little rental place called Doc's Video and pick up a video and a game. The video was almost always one of the WWF Coliseum Videos that came in the gigantic boxes (or in the case of Wrestlemania IV, an even MORE gigantic box). The game was more often than not Ghost N' Goblins. It was just so freakin' hard, it needed to be rented many, many times.
Still love that game.

Goldeneye. This is more based on personal memories, not so much because it a better game than any ever made. I've just enjoyed this one more than any other.

Like KennyBreadsticks, I've played too many games over the years to make naming one an easy task. But I'm going to try anyway.
The Secret of Monkey Island.
There will always be a soft spot in my heart for Guybrush Threepwood. To this day the game (and its sequel) offers me hours of enjoyment, and I can quote every line and play through it with my eyes closed. Ron Gilbert is a genius.
On a console, gaming bliss doesn't get much better than Sonic the Hedgehog. The first game. I was mesmerized by it. Still a ton of fun today. Super Mario Bros. 3 deserves a mention as well. I'd better stop before I add even more games to the list. So yeah, those are my top 3.

StarFox 64. It introduced the rumble pack, and is just an awesome game. Multiple paths, and it is still fun to play today. This is almost tied with Pokemon Yellow however, my first Pokemon game... and the first game I spent over 150 hours playing.

I really can't pick one, it's just too hard. But it would probably be between these:
Mario Kart DS, Super Mario World, Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, Super Street Fighter 2, Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, International Superstar Soccer 64.

Only one game has caused me more joy and more pain at the same time and that game is Final Fantasy 7. I would get up at 6:00 am for class sit down for a quick game of FF7 and end up playing non-stop until 2am the next day. I had to drop two classes that semester, my girlfriend broke up with me shortly after that, and I almost lost my job all due to this terribly awesome game. But I enjoyed every minute of it. I lauged at the cross dressing mission, cried at Aris death, trembled in fear when facing Sephroth.
That was a great game.
Runners up in no paticular order
The Adverntures of Bayou Billy (at the time it was great)
The first Zelda
Kings Quest 4
Elite Beat Agents
Warcraft 3

Super Smash Bros
This is without a doubt the best fighting game to date. You can talk about your Virtua Fighter or Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and stuff with all their random combos and special attacks and physics engines for realistic movement and damage, but smash bros still beats them all for it's sheer honest skill and strategy requirements.
No two player versus battle can compare to the sheer out constant movement that you get in a 4 way smash bros battle. When more than 2 opponents fight, temporary alliances can be formed in an attempt to take down a stronger opponent, and thus part of the stronger opponent's strategy must focus on finding holes in, and picking apart the alliances that form.
The variety of characters and their custom attacks are extensive, yet there are only 2 types of attacks(3 if you include grabs and throws); normal(which can be turned to smash attacks simply by moving the joystick with more speed) and special, which are then modified by 4 directions.
Using different battle arenas actual changes how you have to fight, rather than just changing the scenery, and can often change the outcome of an entire battle.
Yet the one thing that is perhaps the biggest reason why Smash Bros is the best fighting game lies in the rules of victory; rather than a rigid inflexible health bar that declares defeat upon depletion, smash Bros has a percentage meter, which steadily increases with damage taken. Rather than having a set limit to when your character will fall, it simply becomes easier and easier to be thrown from the course as percentage increases. This creates a level of tenacity that no other fighting game has, as you can continuously attempt to make your way back to the stage after being thrown from it, no matter how high your damage is.
All in all, I feel that Super Smash Bros provides the purest and most complete essence of battle that any game has ever been able to come out with, and will likely stay that way until Smash Bros Brawl comes out.

Contra on the NES. It was the hardest game when I was a little kid, and now that I'm all grown up I have every soldier and bullet memorized, but its fun to use that complete knowledge of a game so much. I beat it at least once a week. Not too many titles can you sit down for 20-30 mins and beat an entire game these days.
A very close 2nd is Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I could just never take Iron Mike down, and to this day I still can't get it done.

I go through swings every few months when deciding my top five games of all time, but number one remains constant: Chrono Trigger.
Great story, 2D game play that I can actually comprehend (sorry, my aging brain is having issues with all these darn complex 3D environments), beautiful music, and a fighting system that still hasn't gotten old for me, all add up to my all-time favorite game.
Just don't play the PlayStation re-release included in Final Fantasy Chronicles! The cut scenes are all fine and dandy, but the load times are just unbearable! Get the original SNES cart or, heck, download a ROM. Why isn't this game on Wii's Virtual Console or remade for DS yet?!
Rounding out the top ten, in alphabetical order:
2. Chrono Cross
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy Tactics
5. Half-Life 2
6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
7. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
8. Marvel vs. Capcom 2
9. Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)
10. Super Mario World

I don't even really have to think about this question XD
Terranigma for the SNES has been my favourite game ever since I first started playing it. It's the one game I compare all other rpgs too, and no game has been able to knock Terranigma off of the pedestal I've placed it on yet. So yeah. Lovely game. Love it to bits.

wow, this is hard mostly because there are some new games that I love completely but I'm not sure yet that they'll stand the test of time and I hve a lot of nostalgia for certain games, but were they really the best? OK here we go:
1. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
3. SimAnt (played this for hours and hours when I was young)
Animal Crossing deserves an honorable mention as does Ocarina of Time, Phoenix Wright, and Katamari Damacy.

Lunar Silver Star Story. (gba, PS1, sega cd)
I played Secret of Mana as a kid. A group of friends spent weeks trying to find every ending in Chrono Trigger that we could. This was after having spent weeks with the one friend who had a computer playing Myst as a group. FF7 was the reason I bought a Playstation, and FF8 was the reason I almost got rid of it. So why this game?
It's a simple, beautiful game. The story is easy to follow but the characters are what really sells it. Each one individual and memorable. The music sounded great even on the Playstation version, which was the first version I found. And the ending . . . I won't spoil it. This game proved that not everyone had given up on classic style RPGs.
Other great games:
Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Brothers 3
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Contra
Wonder Project J
Sonic The Hedgehog
