Continuing this week's theme, we've got a big question: what's your favorite game ever? Yes, ever -- not just on the DS, but all time. That's a tough one, and we'll look the other way (just this once) if you guys can't narrow it down to just done. You little scamps tend to cheat and slip in ties for first place anyway. We expect to hear about several Zelda titles, and perhaps a few Metroids, and hope for a Castlevania or two, but it's the offbeat favorites that are always interesting, so be prepared to explain.

Halo 2.
Multiplayer ftw. Halo 1 is great for the single-player, but Halo 2's Live play makes it the best game ever. Not many games you can play 4 days a week with the same guys over and over for 2 and a half years without it being something special.

Its a bit of an oddity, but I really like "E.V.O.: the search for eden" on the Super Nintendo.
That game had interesting RPG elements on top of a tight control scheme. Plus you could kind of customize your creature. Finally, a favorite game should be one that challenges you, and this one really challenged me.

It's damn near impossible to narrow it down to just one but overall I'd say Ocarina of Time. I know, that's boring. Other than that, I LOVED Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. One of the best experiences I've had playing a game ever. Just pure fun.

Super Mario 3
I can still go back and enjoy that game. I hope they make another mario game for the ds and bring back all the stuff from mario 3 and add more. The original legend of zelda is probably number 2.

1. Rampart (Atari Games, arcade, SNES version also great, though different, the best ratio I've seen of depth to game simplicity)
2. ToeJam & Earl (Johnson-Voorsanger Productions for Sega Genesis)
3. Solomon's Key (Tecmo for arcade and NES - the VC release reminded me of how much it rocks, even if I've never beaten it)
4. Nethack
5. Rogue
Those are more or less solid (although Solomon's Key will probably dip down a bit in a while), but there are some others....
6. The Legend of Zelda (Nintendo for NES, the hardest of the series and still the one with the greatest sense of real adventure -- the others, while great, are much more on rails than this one)
7. ZANAC (FCI/Compile for NES, greatest of all shooters)
8. Blaster Master (Sunsoft for NES)
9. Metal Slug 1 (2, X and 3 are also good, but 1 has the best atmosphere and play, I think)
10. Mario 64 (it is still somehow fun to play it and get stars even now, two generations later and after I've already played it to death)

Maybe I missed it, but why hasn't anyone said Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars? I loved that game back in the day, and I can't wait for the VC release. I'm also a big Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie fan.I was Mumbo for Halloween once, and I will seriously buy a 360 just for the sequel. Also loved Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Wind Waker, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (what can I say, I love my Mario RPGs... and Fawful), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Metroid Prime, and Mega Man X. I could go on...

Shadow of the Colossus has connected with me emotionally during my adult life more than any other game I can think of (although I've been at the last stage for months and months now).
But Tetris has the most perfect gameplay ever concevied. It is efficient yet beautiful, intuitive yet profound. Tetris is poetry and our great great grandchildren will be playing it in essentially the same form we do now.

Without a doubt, Link's Awakening. I had so much fun in the original, going into caves, warping, and seeing where, or if, I would come out. It's the second game I ever played, and remains to this day the only Zelda title, out of the 6 that I have beaten that I can go back and beat without any help at all.
Others
-Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons
-Metal Gear Solid 2
-Metal Gear Solid 3
-Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast
-Prince of Persia 1,2, & 3
-God of War 1 &2
-Guitar Hero 1&2
-Pokemon-all of them
-Believe or not, I love Trauma Center for the Wii

Super metroid is absolutely amazing to the max. But Metroid Prime comes in 2nd because of all the glitches and speedrunning stuff you can do.

Bully for the PS2, best game ever. Though all videogames, this has the best Highschool narrative that made me feel a lot of feelings.
For the DS? Wario Ware Touched!

Super Mario 3.
Other games since then have loaded on the production values (FFVII) or have been a head spinning break-though in game immersion (Ocarina) but SM3 was an amazing GAME for it's time that neither of those titles were for their time.
As far as a PLAY experience, nothing has topped SM3.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
next goes to
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (simply for having Richter and maria... and the sisters were IMBA! i like them!)
Wario Ware series... cause it's just plain crazy and the reference to old nintendo games (9-volt's) is like a trip down memory lane...
Osu Tatakae Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents...
cause it's just made out of WIN :p (and i just liked it sooo much)
special mentions...
Yoshi's Island: most difficult 2d platform game.. EVER! (especially the DS version)
Megaman Series... excluding network/exe, but special mention to zero and ZX
Contra: the one "code" to rule them all!
Soul calibur.. for being the ONLY fighting game i can play properly

There are so many great games, how could I choose just one? Sure I love classics like Super Mario Bros. 2, Final Fantasy II (IV), Goldeneye, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil 4 and maybe even Twilight Princess. There is one game, however, that stands just a little taller than even those greats. I'm talking of course about N*Sync: Get to the Show for the Game Boy Color. The gameplay, storyline and AMAZING graphics all work together to bring this epic delight to life. If you haven't yet played this treasure then you can hardly call yourself a gamer!

Or maybe Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
What can I say? I love the sandbox. Why do I have a DS again?

Any of the REAL Pokemon games.
Red & Blue + Yellow
Gold & Silver + Crystal
Ruby & Sapphire + Emerald.
I have played at least one of the games from each line for over 150 hours and I thoroughly expect the same and more from Diamond and Pearl (and i won't be waiting for the far-off UK release). Does anyone know a good website for US to UK imports?
