The review is especially positive about the online features of the game, including the ability to share your own puzzles online, and free weekly downloads of extra puzzles. Some of the downloadable content includes puzzles from Mario's Picross and Mario's Super Picross! Technically, we shouldn't be happy about recycled content, but it gives us a warm, happy feeling.
The only real complaint they have with the game is the stylus control, which seems like it should be a natural for Picross. Luckily, it's optional! So we can all just pretend it didn't happen and doesn't exist.

As mentioned before in a previous comment by someone else, Puzzle Series Vol. 6: Illust Logic is a far better implementation of Picross. Sure it's Japanese only, but it's not hard to figure out the menus. Check it out.

I've imported both the Japanese and European versions (yeah, I love Picross) and never had any stylus control problems. I can't imagine why someone would choose button control over stylus control unless they were on a bumpy bus/train ride and couldn't keep their hand steady.

Having got this game over the weekend, I can say this is great fun, I've hearf a few complaints about the stylus control but I have had no problems. My best advice is to use the hybrid mode where you use directions on the d-pad to select the different tools and the stylus for the rest.
NB There is not a selectable hybrid mode its something I figured out and called it such because it uses buttons and stylus.

Normally, I'm annoyed about recycling content. But in this case:
a) the first game was really obscure, and not many people played it (I hadn't heard of it until Picross DS was announced)
b) the other games (Super Picross and NP Picross) never escaped Japan
Under those sort of conditions, I don't mind as much.

Stylus problems are because of the small squares, you have to be accurate. Mainly the puzzle idea is way better than sudoku.

@2: Playing with the buttons is way faster and, in multiplayer, this counts.
