There is a lot going on in this world, and throwing down with multiple characters at the same time is pretty much our exact idea of "wonderful." Certainly we like the art style, but it's the seeming challenge of controlling two characters with two distinct control schemes that has us peeking around for more word on a localization timeframe, because we're not ready to attempt that language barrier, despite how intrigued we are.
It's a Wonderful World is currently out in Japan, and hovering near the top of weekly sales charts.

It's actually not that bad.
You can let the AI handle the second character if you want.
As for the language barrier, pictures often appear alongside the subject of conversation so you usually know what to do, and many location names are in English.
It's surprisingly import-friendly for an RPG.

Of course, you wont get the story, which... Even I have difficulty understanding. It's a very complex story which you need to probably play through twice to get it all. I had to take a 5 minute out when I finished the game just to get my head around things. But when you understand it, you realise it's a pretty depressing and sad story.
... Maybe it's best you didn't understand it, you may be already on harsh anti-depressants after Kingdom Hearts 2 and FFXII...

You need 3 hands to use a N64 controller. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is too hard because you have to stop battling and be vulnerable while you choose cards. Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is too hard because you control four characters at once.
Oh wait, all of those claims turned out to be wrong. KH:CoM and Zelda:FSA were wonderful games without too much unfair difficulty. With this one, I expect it'll be the same way; it looks difficult at a glance, but it's simply a matter of getting used to watching both screens at once and multitasking. If it were a problem, somebody at Square Enix would have noticed by now and it'd be fixed. Remember: This isn't EA. S-E actually cares about quality, and wouldn't force crap on us.

#3) You obviously haven't played Dawn of Mana. That game was horribly broken.

I'd like you to try focusing on both screens of EBA! It's the only motivation I had for keeping perfect.

Like number 1 said, (not you Riker!) the controls are not bad at all even if you control both at the same time. It's surprisingly simple and intuitive and didn't take me long to get used to.
