Gammick Entertainment, publishers of Zombie BBQ, are working on another DS game featuring an unlikely combination of characters and genres: Animal Boxing. It's boxing, between animals, who look just enough like elongated Animal Crossing inhabitants to really freak us out.But the opportunity to beat up on an ambulatory walrus isn't even the freakiest thing about Animal Boxing: that honor goes to the "SD System." You control the game using the touch screen to throw punches, aimed, of course, at your opponent's face and upper body. Rather than squeeze the whole boxer onto one screen, Gammick did the logical thing and designed to be played with the DS held upside-down.

I was wondering when DS games would take this approach to flipping the system. I'm not aware of any other titles that do this (maybe Warioware?). Neat idea. Probably not my type of game though. But, neat idea.

You know I've been waiting for interesting uses of the DS like this. I've always thought it could be possible to do a 3D game with stereoscopic imagery. The problem would be controlling the game, which could be solved with a simple control scheme using the GBA port (ex simplified joystick, or paddle wheel).

The Virtual Boy had a boxing game called Teleroboxer that controlled just fine with the conventionally-designed VB controller, which, other than the A and B buttons, had a symmetric design of two D-pads and two shoulder buttons, strikingly like the DS if we consider the A, B, X and Y buttons to have the potential to work as a second D-pad. If you were referring to a special controller for stereoscopic games in general, I can't say that I ever had problems with the VB controller in general, but then again, there were only one or two games for the system that had free movement other than side-scrolling (such as Red Alarm). It's a shame that a VB-style game on the DS would be nigh impossible to execute correctly, considering the necessity of a special viewer, the fact that the system has to be held an exact distance from your face, etc.
