Unfortunately, most of us who don't live in Japan have to adopt a "look but don't touch" policy if we want to do the nifty official things shown in the video, as we lack something vital for buying content -- a Japanese credit card. We're used to not having as many cool toys as our friends in the East, though, so we'll just suck it up as per usual.
Here's a vision of DSVision

Anyway, I'm planning on importing one. Seems like a good addition to my DS collection, even if I can't use it.

This could be a great opportunity for Sony's marketing to say "The PSP already does this stuff, but lots better. And in 16:9 resolution."
Anyway, while I doubt this will come out in N.A., I hope we eventually get something (official) like this. Certain apps like a PDF reader, photo album, etc. officially supported by Nintendo (so I'll have someone to complain to if they don't work) would be something I'd be interested in.

Or you could go to dealextreme.com and order the acekard 2 (may have somewhat crappy quality control on the hardware it seems, may have been fixed. Have rather good software and it's open source so support will probably continue.) or the supercard ds one (supercard team have been around forever and their cards are well supported. They may not be the best cards at release and the software may not be the most perfect but one can rest assure that it will be improved and updated.)
+ one MicroSD card.
Then either buy your series or movies in an open format if you can find them or one easily broken, or just get them the usual illegal way, then download eRightSoft Super and convert them to DPG, install moonshell on your flashcard, put your converted series and movies on the microsd card and voila!
Works for music files and all homebrew as well of course.
Total price will be around 25 dollar for flashcart and 36 dollar on amazon.com for 8 GB microsd. Both moonshell and super is free. So around 51 dollar (+ shipping from amazon?) to turn your DS into a 8 GB movie and music player and more.
