Cozy up with Blooper

We're not exactly sure where each of you would place cushions on a list of life's essentials -- they're right next to DS games ending with 'z' on our list -- but if you are a lover of cushions (and some of us live with such people), you may as well be a lover of totally awesome cushions.

That's where Etsy member punzie can help out, because she's crafted a (currently very small) range of $20 Nintendo cushions, including the charming teal Blooper design you see above. While there's only three to choose from right now, she does take requests -- we're half-thinking about asking for a Kuribo's Shoe cushion to call our own. Sit yourself down in your cold, hard, unpadded chair and hit the break for a couple more examples of her work.

It's dangerous to chop vegetables on an unprotected surface alone! Take this!

We'll be honest -- as charming as it was, we found ourselves struggling to understand how the Zelda universe was an appropriate choice of subject for a themed, crochet teapot mat. Eventually, we concluded that, hey, Link does occasionally drink potions in his games, right? And you can also drink ... what? Yes! Tea! Ahem.

Anyway, this Triforce-branded cutting board from Etsy user 1337motif ... we're stumped. Totally at a loss. There's just no reasonable connection between Zelda games and cutting boards. Then again, we're yet to find a more awesome way to chop vegetables, so we'll roll with it. Cough up $125 (yes) and it's yours.

Nintendo-themed cases bring style to your DS

If you're still searching for the perfect case for your DS Lite, you might want to check out these handmade options by eBay's munkybaby05. Made with yarn, felt, and plastic canvas, these cases are adorably geeky, and according to the seller, will fit snugly on any DS Lite.

There's two Metroid options, including the one pictured above and a Samus vs. metroid case. If you prefer the Legend of Zelda as your game of choice, though, she also has a case featuring Link and another with a sparkly Triforce.

The cutest of all, though, are the Mario-themed cart cases, which are shaped like little boxes and can hold about nine or ten games. The game holders are available in red mushroom, green mushroom, or question block designs.

Currently they're not too expensive for handmade items ($18 including shipping and handling for the DS Lite cases, $11 for the game cases), but of course, you never know with eBay.

[Thanks, GenoBoost!]

Hold these shiny cases above your head

To give these green and gold Triforce cases their shiny look, Craftster Renee Parrill used Zodiac naugahyde, or glitter-patterned pleather. The pouches are just big enough to encase a Nintendo DS, keeping their contents confined with a snap closure. They would match perfectly with your green cap and adventuring outfit! Also, you could probably stuff a fairy into one if you ever run out of empty bottles.

[Thanks, Alexis!]

No better way to decorate than with wisdom, power and courage

With Christmas approaching at breakneck speeds, many are scrambling to get all of their gifts secured and their task of wrapping them complete. Not to mention that many a home still need decorating in that timeless family tradition of tossing up lights (way too many if you're a Griswold). Or, you can do like these fine chaps did and toss out your star or angel that usually rests atop your tree and replace it with a Triforce. Pretty sweet, if we may say so.

[Thanks, Nick!]

Half-time band makes sweet game music

The combination of half-time shows, videogame medleys and marching nerds is nothing new, but this could be the best example we've seen yet. The footage above was shot at the UC Berkeley versus Washington State game earlier this month, and sees a rigorously drilled band belting out a string of songs from a glut of Nintendo favorites, including Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon. We only hope some of the crowd can appreciate the brilliance that's unfolding before them.

It's the formations that really make it for us, though. That bit with the flag at the end is an absolute win in our book.

We debate the hot topics!
