Nintendo to ship almost a million DS Lites

N-Sider reports of this notice on Nintendo's official website which states they're poised to ship 700,000 DS Lites come April. Why, this month alone they shipped 550,000 so hopefully this 150,000 unit increase in production will aid in relieving some of the demand the system has seen over in Japan and through importers for us unlucky folk living everywhere else. We'd hate to see anything violent happen from supply shortages again.

1. If this lowers the import price to the sub-$200 range, I might consider getting one.

Otherwise I'm stuck until Nintendo says *something* about the US release.

2. Oh man, supply and demand is getting TOUGH.

If I don't get my import soon, I might consider cancelling my order for a black DS lite when it comes to the USA or UK.

3. so what are the downsides of importing the ds lite from japan?

4. The only downside I'm aware of is the price. As far as I know, the Japanese hardware is exactly the same as the US will be. I think even the AC adapter is the same. But the prices are still hovering around $300 US to import.

5. Mine was about $230 from lik-sang.com, of course who knows how long it will be before they can fill the order.

I have heard there could potentially be some complications if warranty work were needed and that NOA will not do the work, but rather insist you send the unit to Japan. But seriously, the DS seems to be really well made, I'm not too concerned.

6. The only real downside is you're going to pay more, and also the AC adaptor is different than any other game boy adaptor. So if you lose it, you'll either have to import another one or wait until the DS lite comes out in America to get a spare DS Lite AC Adaptor(the adaptors are the same in Japan and America, but they are not the same as the Micro/SP/DS adaptor, so you can't buy them anywhere right now)

7. TIP OF THE CENTURY:

this probably just confirms what we basically already know, but if you go the EBGAMES coming soon website, it has "MARIO DS LITE BUNDLE" listed as arriving May 1. Now, we all know that date is impossible since Mario won't be out till 5/15, and this is listed as an accessory, but you can bet your bottom dollar that may/e3 we'll be seeing a ds lite in USA. dont import! its less than two months away!
