According to a Japanese magazine, the Mega Man EXE team is working on a new Megaman title for the Nintendo DS. The premise is as follows: set a hundred years after the EXE series, wireless communications are ubiquitous. The signals themselves travel on a special path called the "Wave Road" which stretches across the globe. But, of course, someone had to go and mess with the status quo; not surprisingly, Mega Man is called upon to solve the problem. We'll have more information is it becomes available.

Nushio: That can't be ZX; not only do they have different art styles, but the premise is completely different.
I guess you'll play as Lan's son or something?

Conn: Yeah, seems like you're right.
ZX appears to be the continuation of Megaman Zero for GBA (in terms of "old school Megaman"), while this yet unnamed title appears to be the continuation of the Exe series (yet another run-of-the-mill, my favorite series if I might add).

So megaman jumps from landlines to WiFi with the help of the DS? In my opinion its about time the Battle Network got a clean start. Maybe they'll be smart this time and start with power fusions, single run through plots, and maybe even *gasp* remakes of the original robot masters . . . now as, umm, Program Masters?!? Anyway, this should end up making more sense then the previous titles.

Juggernaut, what are you talking about? I'd say roughly 80-90% of the NetNavis in MMBN ARE remakes of the Robot Masters!
Aside from MegaMan, two characters that have been in every game are ProtoMan and Bass.
Gospel (Treble) and Duo were even final bosses (In BN2 and BN4, respectively).
FireMan, HeatMan, FlameMan, BurnerMan... Pretty much all of the "fire" Robot Masters have been reborn as Navis...
All of the MM1 cast as back, too. FireMan, BombMan, IceMan, GutsMan, and ElecMan were all in the first Battle Network (GutsMan has been in nearly every title, too)! Then CutMan shows up in BN2.
There are original characters as well, such as BowlMan, GridMan, or KendoMan, who were all contest winners (just like how most Robot Masters were contest winners; Knightman and Windman of MM6 were winners from America and Canada!)
So, I'm afraid I don't get what you meant by that.
So far, this game has just been dubbed as a "new Rockman DS". Not necessarily Rockman EXE (MegaMan Battle Network), but it does seem to be a continuation of the series.
Perhaps it's like the Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) series.
Gyakuten Saiban 4 is the first DS entry of the series (excluding the remake of the GBA game), and stars an entirely new cast.
This could be a new MMBN, but with an entirely new cast of characters (some have even suggested that the protagonist is Lan Hikari's son).
Actually... now that I think about it... whenever a new system came out, Capcom usually started a new Megaman franchise!
With the release of Super NES, they created Megaman X (MM7 was released afterwards).
On PlayStation, they created MegaMan Legends.
On GBA, they introduced MegaMan Battle Network and Megaman Zero.
And on DS, they have Megaman ZX, a continuation of MMZ. And now this new game, which could be a continuation of MMBN.
Interesting...

Sorry, let me elaborate. When I said the "Original Robot Masters" I should have said the "Original Six Robot Masters." It always got to me that in MMBN, the first game tempted you with Gutsman, Fireman, Iceman, Bombman, and Elecman, but nowhere to be seen was Cutman! And at the same time you had enemies like Colorman running around. Shudder, creapy clowns.
And I also recognize that the origianl NES game is "short" two robot masters compared to the rest of the series. So maybe if they had used 8 of the most iconic robot masters? Oh well . . . Or maybe use all the robot masters from the first two games? 14 is a nice number isn't it? Sorry for the confusion.

Forget this crap, give us some original megaman ports, pssshhh. Wasn't capcom suppose to release the megaman collection for GBA, what happened to that? And why does the PSP get remixed mega man titles and the ds does not? Ohh and another thing with that is the psp megaman title has a level editor, come on, ds touch screen = super easy level creations, sometimes reading news like this pisses me off even more about the mega man series and how it has nose dived to crap.

Noah, I think the answer is that the DS probably couldn't handle the graphics that Capcom was pushing for the remixes of the old games, having played both...same with the level editor and the amount of content (especially in powered up). I would like to see Megaman collection or something like that, though, for the DS.
