How to set the alarm on your DS -- info you could care less about

If you don't have the convenience of a Wal-Mart in your area to purchase an alarm to wake you for your daily adventures or lack the money to buy one, yet have enough dough to get a DS, then by all means, use the alarm feature. Honestly we think it silly.

We didn't even realize there was a need to create a guide to set the DS alarm. It is pretty simple after all. Even if you don't know how to tell military time, Google can help you out in 0.07 seconds (we checked).

What do you all think? Can you even hear the DS to wake up? Do you use the DS alarm feature to rise and shine every afternoon to catch the newest episode of Project Runway?

I use the DS alarm often, but only on my old DS. There are 2 reasons for this: one, it's louder than my Lite; two, I'd rather keept my old DS on all night than my new one. I guess I'm afraid it will prematurely wear out the screen.

I use the alarm every morning too. A hell of a lot less annoying than normal clock alarms.

I like and use my DSPhat as my daily alarm although I do have a regular one.

I find it less annoying to wake up and see your DS first thing in the morning :D

This is by far one of the best alarms I have had. The snooze button is the entire touch screen so you can't miss. I will have my Lite on low back light and plug in the wall adaptor. When I awake I have my ds charged and F.Y.I the alarm get progressivly louder the longer it's on. just rember to turn on the volume, I was 20 min late for work because I diden't slide the volume up.

I use my DS alarm to wake me up when I'm taking a nap. I find that it's easier to set than my phone or regular alarm clock. And it is loud enough to wake me up. I have used it as a travel alarm a couple of times as well.

umm its still well loud enough to wake you up with the lid closed. it doesnt shut off the alarm if you close the lid, yet turns off the screens and still bleeps at you. perfect.

I use my DS to wake up, because I don't actually HAVE a traditional alarm clock. Closed lid, it still wakes me up. I really like the fact that it's a gradual alarm, starting off low, and then getting louder and louder the longer I wait to shut it off, making it hard for me to ignore it. The one downside, as someone stated earlier, is leaving the volume off. Be sure you have it up all the way, or you'll sleep like a baby right on through it.

If you can't figure out how to set the alarm on the DS, then it's unlikely that you'll ever reach a status that can be called 'awake'.

I don't use the DS alarm to wake up in the morning, but it is an excellent tool for reminding me when to raise the blinds when my buddies and I get together for a game of poker. It gives a countdown and everything.

I don't use my DS as my alarm everyday but it was very handy when I was backpacking around Japan. I had it with me all day to use the Japanese dictionary "game" (when on trains I'd sit there writing in kanji on signs I didn't know to learn new words). Then I'd use the DS's alarm every morning. The dictionary game even has its own separate alarm.

Also it seems like a lot of people don't realize you can put the DS to sleep and the alarm stays on. You don't have to worry about your battery or screen; the screen is off and the battery will last weeks asleep. Also I agree it's a nice alarm since it starts quiet and then ramps up.

hm, I didn't know you could put the DS in sleep and the alarm would still work. For some reason I remember trying it on my old DS phat and I didn't hear it so I mever used it again.

It is a very handy nap alarm though. So easy to set.

The expression is "I couldn't care less," NOT "I could care less." Just think about it...

Normally I hate people who criticize grammer and spelling but this very common mistake [mostly in comments] has been driving me crazy...it's the next "literally." Is it an American thing? Nobody here in Canada says it like that.

RDX & Nick: "A hell of a lot less annoying than normal clock alarms."

Actually, the reason I use it is because it is one of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard. I don't know how some muffled wannabe telephone ring that progressively gets louder can be less annoying than a "beep beep" that stays at the same volume (my watch's alarm).

Another reason why I use my DS as an alarm is because I leave it in sleep mode, and that forces me to open the DS as well as touch the screen or a button to turn off the sound. More activity = more awake, in my opinion.

Another DS Lite alarm user here. I love that the alarm gets louder gradually, and the sound usually wakes me up more than the alarm clock right next to my bed.
