This winter, Konami is hedging their bets by releasing a flurry of games on both the PSP and the DS. The upcoming titles Marvel Trading Card Game (trading cards for a handheld? really?) and Xiaolin Showdown will be released for the competing platforms, and Konami is also debuting a pair of games based on the animated series Winx Club. But their real winner, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, is exclusive to the Nintendo DS -- and a good thing, since it makes heavy use of the Nintendo handheld's touchscreen. Anyone wanna guess which console's games will win in this deathmatch? Where did we leave those sales figures ....

3. Yes..Castlevania and Lunar Knights, the two that aren't horrible cartoon spin-offs, are exclusive to DS. There's really never a contest when it comes to DS vs PSP. :)

4. Heavy use of the touch screen? noooooo! Why?
IGA said they only put the seals in the first Castlevania DS because at that point Nintendo was forcing everyone to include touch-screen features.

5. @ o0joshua0o
I was hoping that they would with games like Worms that came out on both systems.
It shouldn't be impossible. What with games like FFXI being played on PS2, PC and Xbox 360.

6. @ #1, it's a bad idea for Nintendo to participate in that kind of thing, what with their consoles different control scheme and its intense statistical inferiority, it would just be a draw to buy the same game on a graphically better system
It would be like playing Halo1 for PC against some guys on Live, the control schemes are different enough that 1 guy would have a big advantage over the other

7. Yeah those are two good ones but I believe konami is giving us PSP owners Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and Silent Hill. Looks like Konami believes in Equivalent Exchange because they're treating both our favorite consoles nicely. ;)
Oh and about the handhelds sales; Nintendo succeeding
in the handheld market is about as predictable as cheese on a pizza. The fact that the PSP hasn't died off yet like other handhelds before it is something that should be commended for.

8. *groan* Yeah, because the previous Castlevania didn't have the ultra obnoxious stylus requirement at the most inopportune moments during boss battles... What an otherwise great game ruined completely by such a thoughtless mandate. I just hope the aesthetic isn't too simplified as some screenshots have shown. I like the classic gothic look of the previous games.
And how do Japanese hardware sales make games better, again? I can't stand the Brain Age games, but they're 'stupid popular'. Couldn't care less about cooking on my DS, either.
As Marco said, it's just nice to see both systems being supported well and competing. The hardcore Nintendo fans might do well to consider that without a PSP, the DS might not even have appeared at all.

I wasn't sure if those were early 2007 titles, but I wasn't really being all that serious with my comment. But it's great to see all consoles supported. I do have a PSP, though I use it rarely, and am looking forward to Silent Hill Origins.

12. Ahem...if you didn't know, MGS: Portable Ops is coming out (hopefully) by the end of the year. It'll have multiplayer, GPS support, and BEAUTIFUL graphics. In my opinion, it looks better than Castlevania...

1. Here's what I want to know. Is it theoretically possible to make a DS game and a PSP game interact with each other via wifi? I mean, they're both wifi capable, right? This could help put an end to the bitter feud between the two warring factions of handheld owners.
