The Dragon Quest franchise has hit the ground running on the DS. The next installment in the franchise looks to offer fans a different experience in the universe, albeit more traditional in the gameplay department from the looks of it. The embedded video is a promotional video for the game, yet features the first ever bits of gameplay. As always, the video is embedded into the post after the break.

Holy cow! The battles ACTUALLY resemble a pocket-sized DQ8? I didn't think the DS could pull that off. That's pretty incredible...

That does look amazing. Square Enix have always been great with visuals though. Its disapointing that Pokémon DS won't be like this as it's clearly possible.

Yeah Square Enix has always been top motch with the presentation of the DS, just look at Mario Hoops and Final Fantasy 3.

Awesome graphics, but I don't know about gameplay. We could see another Mario Hoops situation here (though I haven't actually PLAYED that game...).
I don't like the promotion itself, though, like the beginning of it.

Um, Josh, Mario Hoops has awsome gameplay IMO. To me it's just one of those games that gets low scores from websites for no reason, or because they didnt play it enough. The user scores on each sight are at least 8.5 and up might I add.

Whoa, I'm totally sold already on the theme song(back from "Dragon Warrior Monsters" on GBC- I loved that game)... looks like I might pick this one over FF III- too bad SquareEnix wins no matter which one I buy.

If this is anywhere near as good as DQ 8 was then we are in for a treat, fella's. The visuals are already impressive. Almost as good as DQ 8 with the obvious smaller textures and resolution. On a DS!

Exactly how can the DS handle PS2-quality graphics? This looks EXACTLY like DQ VIII!
I gotta get me one of these!
