Darren Reid, fantasy author who will be bringing his books to a DS near you, is now going to receive some company from Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson, who are responsible for the Fighting Fantasy series of books. In announcing the series heading to the DS and PSP, Ian sees the series of books' interactive nature perfectly suited for both handhelds."Fighting Fantasy built up a huge, worldwide fan base over the years. We believe that players will really enjoy the adventures in a new way on DS and PSP. Fighting Fantasy's interactive structure is ideal for bite-sized chunks of gameplay which is important for these devices"
We must admit, we've never read a single book in the series. How many of you have read these books? Enjoyed them or hated them? Think this is a good move in bringing them to the handhelds?

I was a huge fan of Jackson & Livingston Fighting Fantasy books when I was a kid. They were like the other choose your own path books but they were just better at writing the suspense and it integrated allot of fantasy role playing gimmics to make it more fun than just flipping around.
I believe they already made a game of one of their FF books "Deathtrap Dungeon" a while ago.
I would definitely love to see a "Scorpion Swamp" and/or "House of Hell" game.

these books are the shit. this is what i use to do before video games. for anyone that isn't familiar, you should try reading 'warlock on firetop mountain', 'house of hell' or the 'sorcery!' series. they're basically similar to choose your own adventures, except that the stories are much more robust, and you play with dice, pen and paper. great to see this series coming to the DS. alot of great stories for RPG fans. just do a search for them, and see some of the titles and cover art of the books and you will get a gist of what kind of stories they wrote. this looks to be a match made in heaven, especially for the DS.
