It's embarrassing, I know. To be so thoroughly destroyed by yours truly in Mario Kart DS is a humbling experience. Still, any master such as myself still wants a bit of competition now and then, and thus this video, posted by the folks over at Nintendo of Europe, highlights some of the games' numerous shortcuts and tricks. There are even one or two even I didn't know about (Delfino boardwalk jump!), so with this video in mind, perhaps you'll all fare better in the future. MK:DS won't be back in the rotation for a few more weeks, but the day will soon come. Train, young warriors, and perhaps you might stand a chance.Oh. And that blue shell dodge at the end is a thing of beauty.

I still play MarioKart constantly while most other games only lasted a day or two in my DS.

I was able to pull of the blue shell dodge..ONCE!! It was an epic day in my sad, sad life, even sadder is the fact that I could never do it again! Oh how many full moons I cried my eyes out...
No but, seriously, its possible, just excrutiatingly difficult to achieve.

As soon as I saw the words "blue shell dodge", I knew I had to see this. Wow.
Interesting collection of shortcuts-- I did try the Yoshi Circuit one once (in 150cc Mirror), but didn't time it quite right.

Wow, I haven't played Mario Kart DS in a LOOOOONG time. Ahh, the good old days. You know that Sky Garden shortcut... you don't need a mushroom... just saying. And I'm surprised the Luigi Circuit (GBA) cutting corners through the grass was in there, cause I don't really count that as a shortcut. Man... I should go back and play this game when I get the chance.

Why did you post this!?! I hope this gets buried to page 2 before my coworkers see this. I enjoy our non shortcut races. Now it looks like I need to master these since new ghosts will be passed around soon in Time Trials.
I didn't know about that Desert Hills behind the tempo.

yawn. been there done that on everything but the BSD (heck, half of those shortcuts are HANDED to you on a silver platter if you sit down with Mission mode), but then I have been told that BSD's arent possible except at 150cc circuits and I primarily race online or do Time Trials... obviously dont have to worry about shells in TT's and online races at 100cc so... yeah, neat trick, but limited usefulness.

They missed a good one on Sky Garden thats to the left (needs mushroom) if Waluigi hadn't taken the first jump to the right although its not official. There are more turns like that in the GBA Luigi Curcuit. There are a ton more that are somewhat of a given like that patch of grass to the right of the bridge in Donut Plains 1(can be snaked but a mushroom is obviously more efficient).
