DS Daily: So how does My Sims strike you?

A new take on The Sims is coming this fall, and we want to know how you feel about it. Will you give the newly redesigned Sims a shot, and if so, do you think you're more likely to play it on the Wii or the DS? What do you think of the new look?

We always enjoyed the building aspect of The Sims more than the game itself, but this one looks like it might just change our minds about that. With the new look, it seems like it'll be easier to care about the characters -- at least for us. Did you enjoy the game in the past, or is it one you've skipped?

1. Never cared about the Sims before, don't care about the superdeformed Sims now.

2. I'm totally stoked--they're very cute and I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Of course I've played (and enjoyed) the Sims on my GBA, DS, PS2, etc. so I'm not sure how appealing the new look will be to folks who aren't already Sims fans. My guess is that it will be a hit, especially among the younger players.

3. From what I've read this sounds more like an improved Animal Crossing than a Sims games, but since I'm a fan of both that's not a bad thing. I think I'm more likely to get it on Wii but I'm not sure yet. Especially since I haven't even bought a Wii yet, lol. I still haven't heard anything about either version having WiFi though, which would be disappointing.

4. It doesn't look "that" bad. I enjoyed the past Sims, in what other game can you burn to death and your character refuses to jump into a swimming pool right beside him? None! I never played Sims Online, but if this has online capabilities the fun factor is for a good month or so.

5. I'm definitely excited. As said before, it looks rather like a Animal Crossing/Sims crossbreed. Since I enjoy both, I think I'll enjoy this. I'd love to get it for Wii but I currently do not own one, although my boyfriend does and I can bum off of him. Maybe for DS, need to see more details to decide on that one.

6. I've only played The Sims (on PC) and for me it got really old and really boring really fast. I'd spend way too much time just watching my character do mundane things.

I never played the later versions of The Sims, so I don't know if they improved gameplay much.

With that said, I have high hopes for the new Nintendo Sims games. I'm hoping with Wifi and (Wii's internet) that we'll see some good online play. I'm hoping there are better goals and gameplay and depth.

Either way I'll be renting before I'd purchase, no matter what the reviews say.

7. I never cared for Animal Crossing, but The Sims has always held my interest. I'll give MySims a look.

8. I only ever tried playing The Sims when it first came out on PC. I really wanted to like it, it sounded intriguing. However I just couldn't get into it, and after the first day I returned it.

These folks are saying it's like Animal Crossing, and while I enjoy Animal Crossing, such a claim doesn't raise my enthusiasm one bit. (The new graphics don't look better or worse to me, just different.) I'd be more willing to give it a shot if it was a portable version of the original. Oh well.

9. (Aside from what people may think) The Sims for PC is a very mature title (you can get drunk, get high, have sex, fight, even have a same sex marriage.) I highly doubt ANY of that will be carried over into My sims, nor would I want it to since it looks so childish.
