DS Daily: Toys and tie-ins

Yesterday, we showed you some bounty from NCSX: fun little doodads, "lifestyle items," apparel, furnishings, and such with video game connections. We already know you guys are fans of video games (or Nintendogs), so we know you're the target audience for this kind of stuff. We also know that you've got the drive to collect burned into you from a decade of catching 'em all and a few years under Nook's totalitarian regime.

But we also know that games are really expensive, and sometimes if you don't have a job (or, in some cases, even if you have two jobs) you can barely afford to buy games, you just have to let the Um Jammer Lammy alarm clocks go unpurchased.

Is your desk decorated with game-related toys? Do you have the Famicom-shaped version of everything you can have a Famicom-shaped version of? Or do you prefer to save your game money for games?

1. I don't have much, but i do have a toy of Wario from Mario Kart 64 (with the kart), a little figure of Sandslash (favourite Pokemon), and then figures of Sonic and Knuckles.

2. I had nothing until recently (the DS has bought back my gaming addiction like nothing before), now I have a 22cm figure of the fire flower Mario, (it was only made within the year, and it looks exactly like he does in all the CGI images), and a Mario keyring.

Sad, I know.

I'd absolutely kill for some Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II figures but you can't get those things for beans.

3. do posters and cardboard in-store ads count? If so, I've got plenty at my apartment. Other than that, uh... Disgaea figures, a Trish action figure from Devil May Cry, a Hammer Brother pepsi cap top(looks awesome n all). A bunch of posters too... I need a life, hahaha.

4. beeing not only a DS game collector, but aslo an action figure fan, I have quite a few trinkets and a few figures from Devil may Cry and a few plush from Pokemon in my room.

5. I love buying game-related stuff and/or getting it in other ways. My favorite is a stuffed goomba wearing a Mario hat that NCSX was selling awhile back. He's my buddy. I also have a little cel-da Link (red version) action figure, a stuffed Bowser my mom got me for Christmas, a mini-rc Mario in his kart that I won at E3 2 years back, a stuffed cow from Harvest Moon from an EB Games pre-order promo, and my other favorite: a foot-tall Servbot from the Megaman Legends games (he wears my Cleveland Browns winter cap when I'm not using it).

I'm heading to the Nintendo World Store in NY in June and plan to drop a nice chunk of penny there.
If companies would get on the ball and market the heck out of beloved franchises, we could all go broke!

6. just lookin around my room and desk right now i have a pillow with a nintendo/mario 1-up pillow case (http://stylinonline.stores.yahoo.net/pcnintendo1up.html), a donkey kong wall clock(http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/BPS-NAC.html), a mario mushroom stress reliever (http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2007/02/super_mario_mushroom_stress_relievers.html), and a solar powered mario mushroom that wiggles (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zc-49-en-70-1miw.html). i've got some more stuff around here and more to come too i'm sure.

7. Hmm... where do I start?

Currently on my desk are seven Final Fantasy III mini-figures, a Kingdom Hearts calendar, a KH2 figure of Sora, two FF Creatures figures, two FF Master Creatures, and a doll customization of Reno from FF7 (made it myself!). There's also Disgaea and Final Fantasy VII artbooks at arm's reach.

Elsewhere in our place is everything from Animal Crossing plushies to Super Mario Bros. blind-box toys to lots and lots of Final Fantasy figures.

8. I don't have much in the way of gaming decor/toys, mainly because my significant other would freak--unbelievably he thinks I have too many games already!

I would LOVE to have one of the black Nintendo bags/purses that appeared in the "Geek Chic" story on page 92 of the latest issue of Nintendo Power but can't find it anywhere! None of the vendors they mention at the end of the article seems to sell it. If anyone has any info, please leave a comment here!

9. My desk sports an original NES controller, which gets used as stress relief and some unconnected button mashing as my day plods on, Two weird magnetic diorama things of scenes from SMB (your ptincess is in another castle from the end of 1-4 and some platforms with a red shelled turtle from 4-3), an unfilled DS shaped Watertoy, And a mushroom on a ? box that has a solar panel and does, well, for the life of me i can't figure it out... it has a switch which kind of locks the mushroom in place and then later the switch un switches and the mushroom becomes looser... but it doesn't move or anything, just goes from being a snug fit to a slightly less snug fit... lets just say that was one of the least successful buys (even though it is still kinda cool looking.)

10. @Saphion

I just so happen to have one, har har har. It's from the SEGA Gals collection. Got it from play-asia(random figure sent) and got lucky(obviously.) You should look out for random ones in play-asia often, as they tend to have things like that.
