DS Daily: Pokemon sells a lot

Yes, we all know Pokemon games move off the shelf like hotcakes at a lumberjack's convention, but could we have guessed that Pokemon Diamond would be the best-selling game on any system this year in North America? We wouldn't have guessed that ourselves, to tell the truth. Not only that, but both Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have already sold 3 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Would you have guessed the game would do this well? How many copies do you think will sell before the end of the year? Tell us what's on your mind.

i don't find it suprising really.

i mean, it's the most popular game on the most popular platform. i can't think of anything i would have expected to beat it.

To be expected really, don't underestimate the popularity of Pokemon!

It'll be Nintendogs in the end. Ok, maybe not..

When we're dealing with pokemon its only to be expected. Halo 2 might take 4th, ssbb for first, supermariogalaxy 2nd , pokemon 3rd.

What I don't get is: why everyone gets Diamond over Pearl. It's not like there's THAT much of a difference...

Which means at least two sequels that will be virtually indistinguishable from Diamond/Pearl. But I won't be buying any of them because I really hated Diamond/Pearl's interface. Those developers were lazy as hell and could (and should!) have done a lot better instead of minor tweaks to the GBA interface. There's two extra buttons on the DS and we still only get one button to register devices? Inconceivable!

I would say the same, look at the cover of Pearl. Pokemon has always been a solid game and people know what to expect, that is why they keep coming back.
