Was it determined that the new DS Lites come with screens that aren't as good as the early DS Lites?

I am a day-one owner of the white DS lite, and acquired the crimson/black model last Friday.

I haven't done head-to-head tests to verify this, but have noticed that the screens on the crimson/black model seem to dim when tilting the device up or down. I don't recall that happening on the white one.

Don't use your sarcasm italics to mock us in passing for bad photography. It was a cellphone picture. RMC over at GoNintendo actually went out to look for the sticker, so chances are he brought a quality camera. LutherJW simply came upon it by chance, and seized the moment to make a quality news post.

Give him more credit, he doesn't deserve your attitude.

This is excellent news. I was considering getting a DS Lite for some time now (I have a "Phat"). I didn't really care to get the Brain Age 2 as I am still in school (and get enough "Brain Training" there), however, I still considered getting the bundle. Rather, it was the news of the cheaper screens on the newer DS Lites that turned me off of the idea. If someone could just confirm when (if?) they switch back, that is when I'll get a new DS.

The stand-alone crimson/onyx DS Lites will most likely have the same screen which was probably made by Samsung (vs. the Sharp screens used in last year's white DSLs). While inferior to the Sharp screens, they're still playable. Too bad Nintendo couldn't pass the savings along to us with a price reduction to $99 (maybe we'll get an announcement next month).
