Contra 4 preorder gift cancelled, life loses meaning

Outside of appearing in GameCrazy's "system," Contra 4's rumored 20th Anniversary reservation bonus never officially existed, but that didn't make it hurt any less when we heard today that publisher Konami nixed that listing from the retailer's catalog, shooting it out of the sky like one of the game's power-up blimps.

Considering Contra 4's rapidly approaching November 13th release date and the ballyhoo Konami raised to promote Castlevania's 20th Anniversary pack, it's likely that we'll never see the alleged preorder gift. If you need us, we'll be sobbing in our room for the next five or so hours, staring at the ceiling fan above our bed while we lie there in the dark, an MP3 of Linkin Park's "My December (remix)" playing on repeat.

I don't understand WHY more companies are becoming stingier and cheaper with the pre-order gifts. i mean, we have to shell out $20-$40 a game.. it's nice to get a LITTLE something extra.

Didn't see the first image, but I must say that, looking at the second image, I am royally freaked out to see real birds that look like Taillows.

Also I'm still kicking myself for never having preordered Castlevania: PoR. Why, why did you have to remind me that its amazing preorder gift ever existed?!?

I really, really regret not getting the Portrait of Ruin preorder, especially because I love Castlevania games and I bought Portrait of Ruin sans free stuff soon after. This is also disappointing, but it's one less game this holiday season that I need to buy and not be able to play for a while.

By the way, apparently the Mario Galaxy preorder coin was confirmed. Lame. It truly is a shame that such great games (with such a great profit margin, mind you) recieve such unimaginative preorder bonuses.

@Strike Man:

Thank you. I was waiting for someone to say that, but didn't have time to post earlier.

For those of you saying theres birds that lookm like Taillow, one word. Photoshop. Although it doesn't detract from the awesomeness. One more thing, was it the same image but without the Contra box over the bird or.....?

I know I'm posting late, but to people like Kam, I just wanted to say that I pay up to $60 per game and I can't remember getting a preorder bonus with any game for a very long time, if at all. I do preorder games, but you all make it sound like gifts should come standard with preorders, and otherwise, the companies are being mean. You all should be grateful for what you do get. I find the title of this news story to be very offensive. There are much, much worse things to worry about.
