This is one of the cards that comes packed in with Spectrobes. Notice the little holes for the stylus to poke through when the card is placed on the touchscreen. We must say, we like this idea better than passwords! And involving physical artifacts in gameplay makes the whole experience a little more special.
Still, something is nagging at us. It's a card used to input data into a computer. How can it seem so innovative? It's basically 18th-century technology.

I have to say it's a nifty idea. All the fun of trading cards, without the pocket-rock which is the eReader. The one question I have is shifting between the DS and Lite screens? I think the Lite has a slightly smaller screen, but how will the game tell the difference?

The screen size for both DS models is the same.
Plus, the original DS is dead now. :P

If by "dead" you mean "awesome" then yes.

Overlays? Oh, good. I've been waiting a long time to relive the mistakes of the Intellivision and the Atari 5200.

I think what you mean is "It's a card used to squeeze more money out of consumers."

Forgive me if I am wrong, but arent these cards going to be free. Possibly in packs of twisties but a better idea than most :)
And at worst there will be some old school hack sheet for all the cards ;)

I'm so excited about Spectrobes. I don't own it yet but after I get some money and a Onyx DS Lite I'll buy it.
And never fear, because Disney announced that they'll be selling these Spectrobes Trading Cards/Input Cards in stores soon. Along with the announcement that they are planning a tv series to.
