But with over eleven months passed since the effort began, we've yet to see any public patches, and many are starting to worry that the project has stalled, doomed to sit around incomplete while interest dwindles. Deufeufeu, the same ROM hacker leading the FFTA2 translation team, has stepped in to kick the effort back into gear, forking the project and bringing some much-needed organization to the process.
Having already created a "working patch system," extracted all the game's text, and readied other elements important to the game's translation -- all within a week -- Deufeufeu promises to deliver a patch this weekend, with regular stable and unstable releases to follow. Bring your koma deck past the break for more Jump Ultimate Stars screenshots sprinkled with English text.

I don't know who the new lead is, but I love him already. I wonder if he takes bribery in forms of baked goods and crafts.

That's pretty cool but, and sorry if I sound like an idiot here, how exactly would you apply the patch? I'm not up with all this homebrew or hacking or whatever stuff, y'see.

Well, it all depends on the patch. It could be a self-executing patch, which is a stand-alone application which you drag and drop the original ROM into and it edits what's needed and spits out an altered ROM.
Or it could be a stand-alone patch, such as an .ips patch, which requires another application to take the .ips file and attach it to the original ROM. There are several applications to do this, some Command Line, some with a GUI... But I'm sure instructions will be posted on the website on how to actually patch the game ROM.

Actually its more likely to be the same kind the FFTA2 translation uses, and that isn't IPS. Gimme a sec and I'll give it a quick look up for you....

Do you send the £10 by paypal ? I've develloped my own patch system DPS : http://deufeufeu.free.fr/wiki/index.php?title=DPS . You can see an example of a DPS patch with the little translation and edit patch I've done for Daigasso Band Brothers! : http://deufeufeu.free.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Daigasso_Band_Brothers .
By the way, it answers a previous question, this patch will be a drag and drop one.

Well, well... there's been a Spanish patch for quite a while now. Almost everything translated, save for the Quizzes.
Glad to see there's something on the works for non-Spanish speakers, though :)

deufeufeu, i couldn't find the "enlarger.exe" for the ffta2... is it supossed to come in the same folder than the patch???
And, now that the ffta2 project is almost finished, do you have any other translation project in mind?

I have this game for the DS, yes, the actual cartridge game. I'm not up on all the homebrew/hacking stuff, so could someone explain to me if there is a way to get my game in english?(In terms an idiot could understand?) Or a nice link would work too. If not, thats cool, I can still play it anyway. Thanks~

Unless you dump it, hack it, and play it on a flashcart or emulator, you'll never get that game translated. Also, what game is it? It could be translated already, or be in the process of...

The only way you will have this game translatedis with a rom, becouse, jump sold the rights (specially the older ones), so some characters and stuff doesn“t belong to them: ergo, jumnp can't release a game about something the don't own.
Waiting this one in english is like waiting for sony to release a mario game =)
