Wow!! More of the same old stuff!!!! More Mario pr0n!!!! Extra footage of Luigi!!!!!! Secret tape of princes Peach flirting with the plumber!!!!!!!! Also including revealing S&M fetish scenes with Bowser!!!!!!!!!
Partners in time was total waste of time. Do not expect Nintendo to suddenly be enlightened on how to do RPGs. (Hint: is it really so hard to copy Luminous Arc or Fire Emblem??)
Game likely to follow usual sequelling/rehashing steps of Nintendo and it would be more Mushroom Kingdom themed (unskippable) pr0n and even more jumping than its previous version(s).

Yeah, and you'll be really surprised when the next Mario title has the word 'SUPER' in front of it.
Get over it and buy a different game.

Luminous Arc and Fire Emblem aren't RPGs, they're SRPGs. And Fire Emblem is made by Nintendo. And how would copying other series' make Mario and Luigi less of a rehash and not more of a rehash?
What was wrong with Partners in Time, exactly? I liked it. Not as good as the first two Paper Mario games, but still fun. (Speaking of which, Paper Mario 1 and especially 2 prove that not only does Nintendo know how to make RPGs, they know how to make awesome RPGs.)

As fan of RPG, it is kind of hard to pass by.
On other side, I'm always wondering who actually might play the games, where for every two-three hours of /spent/ time you probably get at best half of an hour of actual game play.
And the games get - as RPGs - extremely high ratings. For what?????

What do you mean by "gameplay"? I've played a fair amount of RPGs, and I didn't notice any time sinks in "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time" besides the usual stuff (fight monsters, collect items/cash, solve this puzzle, etc).

What the hell are you talking about? These games have a lot more gameplay than story, unlike RPGs like Final Fantasy X or the Tales games. It sounds like you're just hauling stuff out of your ass. "What could be wrong with an RPG? Not enough gameplay! I'll post a comment bitching about that, without any regard as to whether or not it's true!"

Don't hate me for saying this. I've been a nintendo fan for so long, and all the nintendo rps's, from super mario rpg, to partners in time, all are basically the same. Unless nintendo adds some extra great feature, I'm not buying it.

The only things they really have in common besides being RPGs are Mario characters and action commands.

The games play is extremely similar, example-

every videogame developer does this. it's nothing new. every game that's (fps, rpg, etc, etc) coming out this year and next year are all the same. mostly all the ps3 and xbox 360 (and i guess wii also) games that are coming out are all sequels. and they play exactly the same as the last ones, but with better graphics (hd) thrown in. yet people still buy them.
you know what i find funny? when you ask most gamers what game they would like to see created, most of the time they say they want a REMAKE of an old game, just with better graphics. so what does that say? to me it says, gamers don't want developers to take risk. it also says gamers want something that familiar and safe, rather then new and foreign. when good original games get created and then released (which is rare nowadays), no one buys them. yet gamers bitch and moan about how developers don't make original games or try new things in games. but they when do try new things in games, no one buys them. so what the fuck?
no one takes risks anymore imo. it's all about graphics now. graphic whores rule the videogame industry now. so, nintendo isn't the only company releasing the same game over and over again. (ex: look at insomniac. they release the same game every year, yet people still buy it.)
the movie industry is worse. don't get me started on them. ugh. (no more super hero movies! no more korean movie remakes! no more 70's tv shows, turning them it into a movie remake! no more!)

@Roto13: FE is only published by Nintendo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_Emblem
"What was wrong with Partners in Time, exactly?"
Not enough game in it. After some gaming, you go back to the palace - and roam there until you find next history development point, watch stupid 2-bit raster unskippable animation, then roam palace more, then watch more crap, then roam more, watch more, roam more, watch more. After countless iterations you might finally get to some map where you would be allowed to actually play something remotely resembling RPG.
In the four + something hours I have actually played only about an hour or something. 75% is lost to watching (as bystander) some crap flics on screen - sometimes on both of them.
And RPG element of course sucks: jumping is main "weapon" but you can't "level it up." Nor you can gain other abilities. It same dumb jumping all over again.
The point, in normal RPGs, part of development of your character, you can gain different abilities which allow you play game in many different ways. In M&L, there is only single ability and it is hardcoded: jumping. You remain for the whole game dumb plumber: there is no further development for your character. Upping stats and equipment... even non-RPGs have them now. They are not distinctive enough to grant "RPG" title to a game.
The point is that FE is also not really strong in RPG department. But at least the FEs are generally balanced in story-line vs. game-play department. Also, they are telling story better (story development in middle of quest) and allow to actually skip most of the stuff you might find non-interesting (or if you are simply replaying game). That judging from GBA and Wii versions. Much, much better and engaging experience compared to 1st party Nintendo games.

I noticed it was the current DS lite they're displaying. So it's not an exclusive DSi game?

Correct. There won't be any exclusive DSi cartridge games; DSi exclusives will be via DSiWare, and that's because there's no way to load them on other DSs.

Is it me, or does it seem that Bowser is aplayable character?
As for the game itself, I'm not excited, but as long as the story is any good I'll probably end up getting it anyway.

Alright, items again instead of babies - looks like this game is staying true to the first one on the GBA.

The one thing that 'Partners In Time' had going for it was gameplay. The gameplay was rich, addictive and flawless. The story left much to be desired but yeah, it was still hilarious at times...especially the Star Gate's dialogue...
