Meteos sequel coming

Buena Vista Games planted a seed today which is sure to blossom into a full tree of DS Fanboy posts. This seed, the small announcement that the company will be publishing a sequel to the wildly-addictive Meteos, titled Meteos: Disney Edition, caused many a raised brow and slow, methodic stroke of the chin. Nothing else was said, but this hasn't stopped us from imagining Disney worlds needing saving from an onslaught of the evil falling blocks.

1. umm..... yuck? c'mon I mean whats disney about meteos? this'll only push people away from the series.... just give us the original meteos design with wi-fi connection, that'll satisfy everyone.

3. PSP owners get Every Extend Extra and Lumines II while
we get..... Meteos: Disney Edition. great

4. Has anyone confirmed this? It all does sound absurdly fake.

5. Q entertainment did an awesome job on the first installment, and I expect nothing but the best from the second. Though, it probably won't be as good because of this corporate influence of Disney.

6. Ah, Magical Disney Meteos. Super.

My hopes were raised so, so high by that title, only to have it so, so cruelly dashed. We hates the David Hinkle. We hates him forever!

7. Unlike everyone else that comments on the internet, I think capatalism and successful companies are a good thing.

I think most people associate a Disney-themed game with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc. and that's what I expect also. But I think we, and Disney, should realize that brands like Kim Possible and Lizzie Mcguire are much more popular nowadays.

I think an established game (though maybe not Meteos specifically) would help get these brands a strong foothold in the gaming world. It would at least help people forget the generic GBA platformers that usually represent these popular shows.

8. I think I'm gonna scream in horror, METEOS, AND DISNEY?

OH GOD NO NO NO NO NO!

9. Meteo Hearts.

10. Wasn't everyone making these same complaints before Kingdom Hearts? That one turned out as a rather impressive blend.

I don't see how a Disney influence could possibly change the way Meteos is actually played; it could only add an interesting and possibly nostalgic dynamic to the game. Personally, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.

11. The funny thing is, Disney Meteos can't possibly be easier than the old version.

What will Meteos WiFi be like? See who can scratch their screen more erratically?

Posted at 8:59AM on Apr 27th 2006 by White Rose Duelist

12. This idea was probably inspired by the success of Kingdom Hearts II. Marketing droids tend to imitate what works (from their perspective). If they've become convinced that Disney tie-ins sell a game, we can expect to see them milk it for all it's worth.

13. Am I the ony person who is actually looking forward to this?

Posted at 10:44AM on Apr 27th 2006 by Nigeria

14. if it has wifi, i dont care, it will still be meteos, and wifi!

Posted at 11:33AM on Apr 27th 2006 by Thrillho

15. Kingdom Hearts was a new game that included Disney characters, right? It wasn't an existing series with Disney characters force fed into it for no freaking reason at all.

This seems really stupid to me. I don't need OR want Disney characters in Meteos.

Meteos was such a cooler game than Lumines too. Why are we getting the shaft like this?

Ew. They got Lizzie on my Meteos...

Well, I don't mind the Disney mish-mashing (as long as it doesn't involve tweeny ridiculosity). Not as though Disney automatically equals lamerosity.
See: Kingdom Hearts (insanely beautacious in the eyes of fans. yes. i'm speaking Redd White of Bluecorp.)

Plus, I don't see why anyone should be whinging until we get to see screens and info.
I'm crossing my fingers for a Scrooge McDuck theme.

17. Ok, this game would sound better if it was named "Meteos II - Kingdom Hearts Edition" or something like that. It would actually go with the KH theme, because of the different worlds, etc.

Still, I don't see why Meteos should be mixed with something else, seeing it is perfect as it is now. I can see a few years from now... "Pokemon Meteos". Aye aye.

18. Erick G. - I believe the game you're looking for is Pok?n Trozei!. And it IS better than Meteos. It requires skill.

Posted at 9:22AM on Apr 28th 2006 by White Rose Duelist

19. hey, meteos takes skills too. and im agree with the majority, no to disney.
