Marvel: Ultimate Alliance forged on DS

After beating the radioactive, magical and often otherworldly crap out of each other in Capcom's excellent Marvel Vs. series of 2D fighting games, it seems that the comic giant's major superheroes now find themselves forced to cooperate for the good of the entire Marvel universe. Activision has officially announced Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for PC, current and forthcoming consoles, as well as handheld platforms. I don't know about you, but my hands are usually the first choice when it comes to holding the DS.

Developed by Raven Software, the game will be an action-RPG, no doubt similar to the X-Men Legends series (but hopefully a whole lot better). Various levels of customization are touted, but the one that has us most pleased is the ability to create a custom vehicle for your team. When I'm done with that, the Fantasticar won't know what hit it.

No word yet on how the DS version will differ from the rest--would cooperative Wi-Fi play be too much to ask for?

1. Awww...after reading the first few sentences of the post, I thought Marvel: Ultimate Alliance was going to be a Marvel VS. Capcom game for the DS. Disappointment.

2. I'm looking at the Gamespot article and I don't see DS on the long list of platforms.

It's surprising considering Activision is a pretty strong Nintendo supporter, having the first 3rd party game usings Nintendo's WFC.

The X-men Legends games are some of the best multiplayer console games, so I hope they can maintain that level of fun on the DS. But if they are working on a DS version, it'll probably be out a lot later than the others.

3. "similar to the X-Men Legends series (but hopefully a whole lot better)"

What does this mean? This series is one of the best action RPGs made. This is probably one of the first negative comments i've heard about it.

Personally, I can't wait for this, simply because the X-Men Legends series did so well.

4. I read about this a while ago, it is suppose to be very similar to X-Men Legends, it fact it was being called Marvel Legends at the time of the article. I also remeber reading about it would most likely use the newer ultimate version of the characters instead of the the ones picture above.
