The Horror: DS Lite malfunction
One of our fine readers sent us in this video of his DS Lite, which sadly looks like it will need some repairs (if possible). Has anyone else encountered this problem with their DS Lite or heard about a recurring issue?
[Thanks Erick G! Sorry for your loss.]

4. I ordered a DS Lite from LikSang a while back and it has a "Dead Pixel" on the touchscreen. When I contacted LikSang and said that the product they sent me was defective, they basically said tough s#it and sent me a link to a site in Japanese. Beware the imports....

5. Oh the horror! This is like 9/11 times a thousand.
Oh please! All products are bound to have defective units here and there. Your precious DS lite will still be quite successful.

7. Wow, this may be dsfanboy, but talk about blatant fanboyism.
Obviously you guys want to sound tough behind your computer, but do grow up a little. Of course you can see what's wrong, but since it's not your problem, you mouth off with the false bravado that board warriors like you are born with. If this was your DS Lite, you would definitely be up in arms and complaining to Lik-Sang for a replacement... or you'd stay in your parent's basement and have mommy do it for you.
Of course there are bound to be defective units, you monkey. Successful? Is his DS running for office? If you were handed a defective unit would you just shrug and say, "Well, my precious DS Lite will be just fine."? If that's the case, I feel infinitely sorry for you =(

8. People that import systems should read the fine print that states that it is Nintendo of Japan that takes care of the warrentee issues so if something is wrong with your machine, that is just tough luck.

9. It's been out in Japan for over a month. If there was a massive rate of malfunction (like the 360) we would've heard about it by now.
This is just an unfortunate but isolated incident.

15. I certainly didn't bug it. I've been treating it like a baby. Heck, I even did a research before uploading the video. I just wanted to know if someone else had encountered this problem, but sadly, it seems I'm the only one. *sigh*
Besides, who in his sane mind would buy a 200 bucks DSL to bug it?

17. Erick, how did you get a DS Lite in Mexico? Did you import from lik-Sang or did you go to Japan? My most sincere condolences, landsman.

18. I imported from ebay, got a good bid on 200 bucks with shipping included. About 1 1/2 week after, the problem started to appear. Considering Nintendo products are very resistant, and that I've been taking extremely good care of it (heck, I didn't even touch the touch screen until I had put on some screen protectors), I wonder how in the world did I stuck up on this problem.
Saaad.

19. If Nintendo cant help fix it because its an import, and whoever you got it from wont let you exchange it, try taking it apart and reseating the LCD ribbon. I'm not familiar with the innards of DS's but, ive seen this happen on a laptop or two and basically reseating the ribbon that connected from the systemboard to the LCD itself typically fixed it. I would suggest doing this as a last option, as it would probably void your warranty.

20. Anyone who can't clearly see the problem is clearly retarded, but it seems like nearly every comment here was divulged from said retarded people.
As far as the cause of the problem, I can't say... I don't really know a damn thing about LCDs, that's usually something that one would expect from a CRT.
Yes, I know that my comment was about as pointless as the rest, but at least it wasn't a pathetic attempt at trying to sound witty and too cool to care.
Oh, and whoever it was that thought that someone was trying to make Nintendo look bad has been reading way too many detective novels.
