Invade your Toys 'R Us for free Mew

One of our fine readers sent us in a scan from Nintendo Power that tells of yet another promotional team-up with toys conglomerate Toys 'R Us. This time around, rather than handing out gifts for your virtual town, DS Fanboys may hit up their local chain for a free Pokemon. While the news that this Pokemon is not in fact a real living, breathing, lightning-shooting creature upsets us, we'll still take it.

So those of you who decide to brave the elements and arrive at a Toys 'R Us on the 30th of September will be rewarded with a free download of the pokemon Mew. Arming yourself with a Pokemon game of choice (as long as that choice is either Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen), you'll be free to get with the downloading come the 30th.

[Thanks Ali!]

RamenJunkie,
Nope, it doesn't, but you can get Mew on your own with Pokemon blue:

Crazylink and Ryoji,
My guess is that, yes, you'll need a GBA. I'm basing that on the fact that you can't trade Pokemon or battle other players through the DS's wireless capabilities.

I'm wondering what sort of peripherals you'll need to connect with. Ruby and Sapphire don't do the wireless thing.

9. i think they will have something like a machine that transfers mew onto your gba cart, without the need of a gba or anything, thats how i remember it with the mall tours in the red blue yellow saga, there was this big machine and they stuck your game cart into the slot, and mew would be transfered into your party(u just had to open a slot first)

and i read a rumor on a forum or some other news site that there are 2 mew configurations u might get, one with special moves like ice beam and psychic, and one with physical moves like earthquake.

10. I have all of those versions! I'll get a mew on each. BUAHAHAHAHAH

11. I remember that back in the days of Red and Blue, they had this thing where you would go to some event and you'd actually get a certificate proving that you had a "real" Mew. I really wish they'd give Mew out to people with Blue, Red, and Yellow. Would be nicer if they gave out certificates. :)
