The lovable digital puppy title known as Nintendogs has widely been regarded as one of the select games that really opened up the flood gates and caused the insane demand the DS has seen in Japan. Turns out, all of us outside of that country didn't think the game was too shabby, either, as total worldwide sales of the pet-sim have hit a cute 7 million. While we're sure some of you have left your pup(s) to starve to death in a cold, dark cartridge buried at the back of your bookcase, there still are some of those out there who remember to boot the game up, give their pooch a pet and even take him/her out for a nice stroll. Also, with next week's release of Dalmatian & Friends, could we see some of those would-be (and accomplished) deserters come back to the experience?
So, which camp do you fall into? Puppy killer or beloved owner?

Nintendogs is the game which sold me the DS, I knew nothing about it till I saw an ad for this game bundled with a pink ds, then I just decided to get it. It rocked my world! ^_^ I was pretty obsessed with it, but of course I finished with it eventually. But funnily, I got it out just yesterday and played for ages. My german shepherd still knows how to bunny hop! Sho cuuuuute!

Originally bought the Lab version for my wife, only to find myself sucked in by the german shepherd puppies after they were unlocked. We were diligent owners for a while. Right about the time we started down the dark path of neglect, however, we realized that our 2 1/2 year old daughter--who always watched over our shoulders--had the hand/eye coordination to use the stylus and manuever through the menus. Right away she knew how to feed and clean the dogs, and with a little help she soon could trace a walking path (and--after a bit of nagging--would be good about doing all the other little things that you have to do while walking them).
Kudos to Nintendo for helping develop this new generation of gamer (she now is voice training her own dog--a poodle pup--which she wasn't able to do with ours)! About a month after we started letting her mess with mama's DS, she can now play on her own . . .though occasionally we'll suddenly have a dozen pink aerodiscs (I guess that means we just teach her about good spending habits earlier than planned).

I played it for a while then got bored and I realized how weird it was to be talking to a video game.
It's collecting dust on my bookshelf.

I still love my Nintendoggies! That was the game that sold me my DS. Sure it's not like I feed them everyday (because school & everything so I don't have that much time on my hands) but when I get the chance I definitely play with them. I have 6 dogs now...and plan to get 1 more.
I don't play it like I used too, seeing that I have other DS games now...but still, I love the game. My real dog likes it too.

Puppy killer, infact the dog isnt at the back of my bookcase but at the back of my bookcase with no way out. When I get adicted to a game and give it up for one reason or another I get a lighter and melt the plastic around the contacts to prevent myself from ever getting addicted and wasting precious hours again...
...nah just joking, I play about once a month to see how my dogs are doing (1 dud dog with 5 of my favorites in the hotel).

I played Dachshund religiously for about 2 hours a day for like 5 months, then stopped waking up early enough to have an extra 2 hours everyday.
i do still turn it on every once in a while.
And i did search for like 1/2 hour to find out the starter lineup for dalmatian. Cuz I'm a nerd.
So you know it's: Dalmatian, Golden Retriever, Yorkie, Beagle, Boxer, German Shepard.
