Nintendo announces official date for Pokemon US release

That rumored Spring date seems to be the real deal as Nintendo sent out a press release stating that Pokemon: Diamond and Pokemon Pearl will be releasing to the US on April 22nd. On top of that, a unique gift will be available to all of those who pre-order the title in some unique styluses, which are said to feature new Pokemon in some way. Nintendo hasn't released any images of the planned styluses, so we'll just have to use our imagination.

Personally, we were looking for an announcement of special DS Lites selling bundled with the game, but we guess if they didn't bring them over for Final Fantasy III, then it's foolish to assume Nintendo would do it with Pearl and Diamond.

I think it'd be foolish to just assume they would bring the bundles over, but I also think it'd be foolish to assume that they won't just because they didn't with FF3. While I don't have figures, I wouldn't be surprised if Pokemon well outsells FF3 here, simply because it's got a much broader potential market. I could totally see Nintendo bringing packages over here to sell to the kids who don't have a DS yet.
