Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings boxart unveiled

She's a beaut
We don't normally display boxart here on DS Fanboy, but we do tend to make exceptions. Revenant Wings dresses to impress with minimalistic flair; its DS predecessor was also rather impressive. A beauty, no?

Square-Enix is bombarding the DS with meteor showers of love. Here's a little "DS Bi-Daily" for ya: do you think Square-Enix's support means as much as it once did? By diversifying its game library and stepping into the realms of spin-offs and direct sequels, many feel as though they've watered down the intense quality of software they once provided. Or are we just insane? Still, We await FFXII: RW with open and eager arms.

The only thing I don't like about the boxart for FFIII is the spine. Those letters look boring and like crap. I hope this one doesn't have the same problem.

Sequels are okay, remakes are... mostly okay, it's the spinoffs that annoy me. Oh, like this!

FFIII has plenty of stuff to do even after beating it.. you'll be around level 56 when u take down the Cloud of Darkness but then i glanced at the strat guide at best buy and I was seeing secret bosses that u can't touch till you are around 82.. thats some crazy leveling .. anyway i finished with 2 Ninjas, Sage and a Geomancer.. I just loved the Geo.. Shadowflares & Bells baby!!!

I loved Squaresoft in the SNES days, and through most of the playstation games - the FF series is tried and true. Complaining about direct sequels and spinoffs is kinda silly considering we're up to what, FFXIII? Sure they're not direct sequels, but the core formula is pretty much untouched in each one - more of a new skin than a new game.

So I'm happy with whatever Squeenix give the DS. Chrono Trigger spinoff/remake, anyone?

I'd say such a box could be faked easily enough, however that DS code seems legit, Nintendo Japan's coding system makes them put a game's number before it's abbreviation (e.g. A2GJ was Gyakuten Saiban 2, so in this case the number being XII is shortened to X and put before the F for Final Fantasy) so yeah. Hope Europe gets such a plain box (when we EVENTUALLY get it), the American FF boxes look so tacky sometimes. Heh.
