Best Buy does 2 for $30 deal

Best Buy is having a sale on all of their video games priced at $19.99, allowing those looking to stock up on titles to snag two games for the sum of $30. And, looking over the list of titles that qualify, there's quite a bit of fun to be had.

Notable games in the sale include Nintendo's training titles Brain Age, Brain Age 2 and Flash Focus. There are also other games like WordJong, SimCity DS, Spectrobes and Orcs & Elves up for grabs too.

Best Buy offering $10 gift cards with purchase of DS Lite

If you're in the market for a DS Lite to bestow upon a good friend this holiday season (or, maybe you're anticipating gift money and want to finally get one yourself or upgrade), then Best Buy might be the place you want to hit up. They're offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of any DS Lite system. Nice.

Only problem is that their website shows all of the DS Lite units sold out online. That's not a huge problem, however. If you head in-store, you can get the same offer (we called our local store to confirm), so if you find one sitting on the shelf (odds are against you right now, we're afraid), then you're in luck. Other problem: the offer expires in three days, on the 20th.

Buy Heroes of Mana for a not ridiculous price

As great as Heroes of Mana might be, we can't fathom spending $40 dollars on any non-import handheld title, lest it has the words Contra on its cover or, at the very least, a cowboy pig. It's not that we're strapped for cash; we're just saving up our allowance to order a Masculator. Yeah, laugh at us now, but we'll see who's the chump when our arms are brimming with muscles. It most certainly will not be us.

Amazon and Best Buy seem to be the only retailers with any damn sense, marking Heroes of Mana to $29.99, a price more reasonable than the $40 it's going for at other shops like GameStop. If you're looking for a portable RTS to take you through these last weeks of summer, look no further! Well, unless you're looking at Ecoris.

Jam Sessions contains Best Buy-exclusive songs

The song list for Ubisoft's Jam Sessions has been revealed, and it's pleasant enough to be worth checking out when you get tired of randomly making noises. There are some great selections, like "The Man Who Sold the World" and Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" as well as a lot of stuff that we're too old and lame to know anything about. There are a few songs like Beck's fantastic "Jack-ass" that don't seem to have that much guitar in them, which leads us to question their appropriateness for this game. On the other hand, it's (sheet music providing instructions for playing) a Beck song in a video game. That's awesome.

We also have to wonder how Ubisoft decided to categorize covers by artist: for example, "Life Is A Highway" on the card is billed as the Rascal Flatts version rather than the original Tom Cochrane version, and the aforementioned "The Man Who Sold the World" is billed as Nirvana and not David Bowie, despite the guitar arrangements being identical in both cases and therefore indistinguishable. Oh, right, marketing. We should learn not to think too deeply about these things.

Speaking of marketing, Ubisoft is including a bonus that is either awesome or infuriating, depending on your proximity to a Best Buy. Three exclusive songs will be on copies of the game sold at Best Buy, including Jimi Hendrix's "Wild Thing" (what were we just saying about the covers?). GameStop shoppers will get a preorder bonus that doesn't require a separate pressing of the game: a free subscription to Spin magazine. The full song list is available after the break.

Rumor or error: the all-red DS Lite

Sharp-eyed reader Fashnootin noticed something interesting while poking around the Best Buy website -- the Brain Age 2 bundle. But not the super-hot two-toned Lite we've been drooing over, oh no ... this Lite is all red. Now, we've seen the gorgeous red and black Lite in the hands of some of our fellows, so we know it exists -- so what's with this one? Could there be another bundle? Another new DS Lite? Or is it simply a mistake on Best Buy's behalf? We snagged a screencap of the image just in case it disappears. Reader thrillho also caught a picture in the sales flyer, so it's not a one-off.

We do so love to start the mornings off with a little gossip, and this pic is as juicy as a ripe strawberry. We rather prefer the red and black model, but we wouldn't say no to an all-red Lite, either.

[Thanks, Fashnootin and thrillho!]

Battered DS Lite makes baby Jesus cry

When it comes to adding troops to the DS Fanboy regiment, we make sure to fill our ranks with only the manliest of men. (Uh, and womanliest of women.). As far as bloggers go, we're as Ford tough as they get. Even in birth, we exited our mothers' wombs uncomplaining, ready for the hardship ahead.

Still, our eyes welled up when we saw this broken and battered Nintendo DS Lite. According to an employee at Best Buy, the handheld was returned after its owner claimed that it had just "stopped working." Customer service must have neglected to give the DS a good look, because we can't imagine any store taking back a product in this condition. The right hinge has been knocked out of place, every recess is filled and marked with grime, and one of its corners bares the teeth marks of a childish fit.

The two VeggieTales stickers marring the Crystal White's once-glossy finish are the worst offenses. Is there any hell that this DS Lite wasn't put through? Head past the post break for more unsettling photos of this portable's mistreatment.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for five dollars

Just several months ago, gamers were still complaining about Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow's rarity and unyielding price point. Even if you were lucky enough to find a used copy, buying it would still cost you about $30 at GameStop. Several stores eventually put the game on sale for $19.99, and Konami released a greatest hits version with dreadful boxart, making Dawn of Sorrow available and affordable for everyone to enjoy.

The good times don't end there, though. The frugal folks at CAG noticed a couple of weeks ago that Best Buy has been selling the "Konami's Best" version of the game at an astonishing $9.99. Combining this rock-bottom sale with "$5.00 off" coupons scanned from GamePro brings the price down even further to about $5.00!

We usually miss out on these insane deals, failing to get to the store in time before eBay hounds pick the shelves clean, but we drove to Best Buy anyway to see how we'd fare. We were surprised to find that our store had over a dozen copies, and that the GamePro coupon worked like a charm! Success!

Make sure you take advantage of this sale now, as it ends on April 1st, punishing the fools who've missed out. Head past the cut for the "$5.00 off" coupon.

MASSIVE clearance at Best Buy starts today

If you're near a Best Buy store, gather up your $2 bills and get going, because they're in the midst of an epic videogame clearance, and you'll want to get there before the unscrupulous speculator types grab all the stuff to sacrifice to the ravenous eBay. You've got to be wily to get to the goods before the FatWalleters and the CAGs!

We've got a list of all the DS and GBA software on sale after the jump. Don't expect to find all of it-- most of it has been out of stock for months or years at most stores, and the price changed to clear out remaining copies. But we hope you do find what you're looking for in abundance. We wish we could go tomorrow and check it out ourselves. By the time we get there, there won't be anything but cobwebs and tumbleweeds, and those will probably be regular price.

[Thanks, ali emamdjomeh!]

Get your deal on with Best Buy

Not always best, but okay for now. Here at the Fanboy, we're always looking out for our reader's financial interests. We could charge you a daily fee to read our articles, like those ridiculous "paper" publications do. We could make you register and send you spam E-mail nineteen times a day. But no! It's all free, kindly bestowed upon you from the bottom of our hearts.

In a similar vein, we thought we should inform you of this oh-so-wonderful deal that Best Buy is offering: buy 2 DS games online, and get another (of equal or lesser value) free! That's right, it's time to go beef up your collection. We recommend some oldies-but-goldies: Sonic Rush, Nintendogs, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, and Meteos are all prime (and perhaps discounted) games that deserve your attention. Heck, you could enjoy two new DS games and get a present for your little brother without having to spend a penny on him. Brilliant!

Some qualifications: you need to have a My Nintendo account (something we'd recommend anyway, as they tend to send out free bonuses every so often) and register your Nintendo DS with the site. Also, be sure to order directly from BestBuy.com. The promotion ends on September 15th, so get buyin'!

[Thanks, Vincent!]
