The Sale Ends with You [update 2]

E3 news is still trickling in, but we wouldn't be the DS Fanboy you know and love if we neglected to tell you how to buy cheap games.

The latest hot sale is something we've seen before -- The World Ends with You at Amazon for $29.99. Yet, that offer quickly went out of stock way back when, and many of you poor, unfortunate souls didn't get a chance to nab it at the time. In fact, from what we understand, the game is still hard to find at certain locations.

You can still get the title minus the "Square Enix tax," though, thanks to Amazon's revisiting of its previous sale price. This is a game that's actually worth all $40, too, so $30 is definitely a bargain.

[Update: Well that lasted a good ... half hour. Those of you who are set on the sale, it might be worth it to keep checking in at Amazon throughout the day. As of this moment, though, it seems that the price has gone back to $39.99.]

[Update 2: Well, what do you know, the price has gone back down to $29.99 again. That's one small step for man, and one giant "woot" from mankind. Once again tipped by supa_s -- we think he must have the magic touch.]

[Thanks, supa_s!]

Transformers: The Movie: The Game: The Sale

The Transformers DS games got good-to-great reviews, which is unusual for a licensed game. In fact, Activision's DS games could be considered better than the movie, because they actually have Transformers in them, unlike Michael Bay's awkward teenage comedy with occasional background robots.

In case you missed Amazon's Gold Box deal back in April, the retailer has put Transformers: Autobots back on sale for $10. After today, the listing will instantly transform back into a full-priced game, but for now it's in the shape of a pretty good deal!

Atlus lovers, head to Amazon

We've already established that having the Atlus name on the front of a box is usually A Very Good Thing, and look! Somebody at Amazon must clearly have been listening to us, as the uber-retailer has the following Atlus-published titles up for sale:
  • Rondo of Swords -- $19.99
  • Draglade -- $13.39
  • Ontamarama -- $10.04
  • Contact -- $23.44
  • Touch Detective 2 1/2 -- $9.99
That's not all -- while we were scrounging though Amazon's bargain basement section, we found a couple of other potentially worthy additions to your DS library:
  • Children of Mana -- $20.09
  • Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble -- $10.04
You can also get Ping Pals for $4.29. But like that deserves a functioning link.

Amazon: $20 Advance Wars, $20 return on DS Lite

Amazon is currently stuffed full of great stuff for DS fans. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is the latest Deal of the Day, though we're guessing that, with a $19.99 price tag, that one's gonna go fast. Or, if you happen to be in the market for a DS Lite, or a copy of Guitar Hero: On Tour, Advance Wars could be free. How? Amazon is currently offering a $20 gift card with the purchase of Guitar Hero or select Lite models. Not a bad deal for a couple of games and a peripheral, or a spankin' new DS Lite.

[Update: Reading comprehension suffers in the middle of the night. As a reader pointed out, the gift card deal is Guitar Hero: On Tour, plus a DS Lite, not one or the other. Less great deal, unless you were already looking for that combination! Thanks, Wiiboy!]

Amazon Japan claims exclusivity to Korg DS-10

Talk about an importer's nightmare.

Granted, those interested in Korg DS-10 will still be able to import this intense synthesizer/music-creation software, but being an Amazon Japan exclusive will make it that much more expensive (as if imports didn't already make our wallets bleed). As much as we love Amazon, the retailer doesn't ship outside of its respective country or region, meaning a direct purchase from the site is impossible.

Going through some of the normal channels (like NCS or Play-Asia) will still work, but since they have to pay extra for retail, taxes, and shipping, the cost of the software went up $14. Now, instead of paying $48.90 for the import, interested parties have to pony up $62.90 -- and that doesn't even include shipping costs. Our wallets are crying.

Of course, if you don't need the software this month, you can always wait for Korg DS-10 to release worldwide -- whenever that will be.

Rhythm Tengoku screenshots, boxart are Gold

It won't be long before you'll have to break open your piggy bank -- Rhythm Tengoku Gold will be out in Japan as soon as July 31st! If you never had a chance to play the original critically-acclaimed rhythm game for the GBA, consider it your mission to import this DS remake later this month.

Hit our gallery below for a handful of screenshots from Rhythm Tengoku Gold! They're mostly larger versions of the images shown on Nintendo's fact sheet, but they're still a good preview of how the touchscreen-enabled title will play on the system, book-style. Besides, as this upcoming release shows, the world needs more Rhythm Tengoku.

[Thanks, Peter!]

Amazon casts a Magical Starsale

By now, you've likely forgotten all about Brownie Brown's Magical Starsign, one of the first Nintendo DS RPGs to make it stateside. Its rudimentary plot -- rescue your classmates after your magic school's fleet of space ships crash on a group of planets -- won't set anyone's heart on fire, but, from what we've heard, it's still an enjoyable game.

Amazon has Magical Starsign on sale for $8.99, the lowest we've ever seen for the game! If you're looking for a decent (and cheap) RPG to pass the summer with, or if you're just looking to fill out your DS library, pick it up before the day and the sale ends.

Amazon's Gold Box is full of DS treasures [update 5]

Hey, guess what? You can buy Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Amazon today (and today only) for $25.99!

What a minute -- why are we posting about a Brawl deal on DS Fanboy, of all places? Because, friends, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Amazon is offering up nine Nintendo deals today, which (if our guesses are correct) includes five DS games.

Since all of the said games are published by Nintendo you might own most of them already, but if not, they're games that are definitely worth getting for cheap. So, all you stingy folks that are able to order from Amazon.com should check past the break to see what Gold Box sales are in store for you today.

Amazon busts out the Nintendo deals this Friday

Thrifty gamers, take note: Friday will see Amazon unleash a plethora of Nintendo-related sales. Starting at 12:01am PST, one deal will be revealed at a time, with a total of nine deals available over the course of the day.

As for what exactly will be on sale, we're forced to wait until Friday. That doesn't mean we can't do some snooping, though! Check out previous sales to get an idea for what Amazon will have to offer later this week.

[Thanks, sn1per!]

Let's Pilates cheaply, thanks to Amazon (and more!)

If Let's Pilates is as good as Let's Yoga, then it's a real steal at Amazon today at under $15. Looking for something a little less active? No problem -- tons of games are on sale, and accessories, too. We're not guaranteeing they're all great, but they do have one thing in common: they're cheap as hell.
  • Let's Pilates -- $14.28
  • Magical Starsign -- $14.18
  • Warhammer 40k: Squad Command -- $9.45
  • Avatar: Burning Earth -- $9.45
  • Brain Boost: Gamma Wave -- $9.45
  • The Golden Compass -- $9.45
  • Interactive Storybook DS -- $9.45
  • Elements of Destruction -- $9.45

Izuna's milkshake brings all the boys to Amazon's yard

While Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns comes with a spiffy reversible boxart feature, that's not the only bonus male Atlus fans can expect this July. There will actually be another mini-poster included with the game -- a much more risqué poster, at that. Here's the catch: in order to get one with your copy of Izuna 2, you have to order it from Amazon.com (which means the promotion is only available for folks in the U.S.). Atlus tells us that there are only a "limited" number of these special edition copies available, so take that as you will.

Atlus is also holding a voting contest to see which one of two posters (shown in full after the break) will be included with the software. When we last checked, the two options were almost neck and neck, with the first one taking a slight lead.

If your lecherous curious eyes want to see the uncropped posters featuring Izuna and Shino's scantily clad figures, just click past the break.

Rondo of Sales: SRPG, Crosswords bargains

Like the purple-haired sword dudette above, Amazon has slashed away at its pricing for Atlus's quirky SRPG, Rondo of Swords. Until midnight tonight (or however long the retailer's stock lasts), you should be able to get the game and its innovative combat system for only $17.99.

Of course, if you can bring the total of your order to $25, you can also receive free shipping. If you haven't picked it up yet from the dozens of other sales we've featured, Amazon also has a New York Times Crosswords "lightning deal" planned for 1:00 PM EST today, though the product page hasn't revealed yet how much the game will be discounted.

You could always add that to your SRPG cart if you need some filler! Presumably, the New York Times Crosswords sale will be up for four hours (or while stock lasts).

Price Drop: Shiren the Bargainer

If our constant championing of the genre has you ready and willing to try out a roguelike as soon as a cheap one comes along, then here's that discount dungeon crawl you've been waiting for!

In what looks to be a permanent price drop, retailers such as Amazon and GameStop have marked down their copies of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer to $19.99, in-store and and online. Now you don't have to feel guilty about spending money on such a throwback game (with throwback graphics to match).

If you won't buy it for the fun of the game, buy it so that Sega will bring its sequel to the states!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Sale of Fates

Some of you may be tired of hearing us moan and groan about Square Enix's inflated game prices, but that doesn't mean we're going to stop -- paying $40 for a DS game is a cruel practice. Now, though, you can pick up Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates at an almost normal DS game price, since it's currently on sale (or perhaps marked down) at Amazon. The game will still set you back a cool $33.99, but when it comes to Square Enix, we'll take whatever deals we can get.

A few watchful CAGers have also noticed a handful of other titles that were marked down a dollar, mostly from Atlus. One dollar isn't immense savings, we know, but in case that's enough to push you over the edge for a purchase, check out Amazon's listings for Rondo of Swords, Drone Tactics, Luminous Arc, Summon Night: Twin Age, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Strangely enough, we think Amazon might be having a bizarre $1 off sale throughout its gaming department, as we noticed this "mark down" with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, too. That leads us to believe you can probably find more goodies slashed down a dollar, if you feel so inclined to look -- after all, one-hundred pennies saved are one-hundred pennies earned.

Spiderwick Chronicles for $7 on Amazon

The Spiderwick Chronicles may not be the best game ever, but $7 is a decent price for this fantasy game. Sure it has its faults, but such things are usually reconciled by cheapness.

Since Spiderwick is an Amazon "Deal of the Day" (along with the PS2, 360, and Wii versions, which cost a little more), it's a "take it or leave it" type thing. We imagine that most of you will choose to leave it, but those who take it will probably be able to find $7 worth of entertainment in this license-based adventure RPG.
