Tales of Innocence loses its innocence with these screens [update]

The latest update for Konami's first Namco Bandai's second DS entry in their long-running Tales RPG franchise, Tales of Innocence, centers around the customization elements within the game. While machine translation isn't as accurate as we would like, we gathered that players will be able to craft weapons and have the ability of what appears to be compensation abilities, sort of skills that would allow the player to beef up the areas where they need it most.

We could be wrong on this (again, machine translation), but it seems that players will find an experience true to the Tales name, as well as something fresh and new in the RPG genre on the handheld.

Update: Ugh, I've got a case of the Mondays. Sorry for the error.

Neat Accessory Sets of Innocence

We like Hori's themed Protect Cases. They're an easy, inexpensive, and impermanent way to give your DS Lite a "limited edition" look. This way, you can deck out your DS like you spent $200 dollars on a bundle, but then if you decide that the game is terrible or something, you can just toss the cover and not have a constant reminder of your own folly on the top of your system.

From the looks of it, Tales of Innocence won't be terrible, and so there will no doubt be an audience for this nice-looking set. It includes a clear Protect Case and a maroon Tales of Innocence extending stylus, for $23. It'll be released on December 6th.

TGS07: Beautiful new Tales of Innocence trailer

The post-show media just keeps rolling in! We're not complaining, though ... far from it, when the media in question is as mind-boggling as this Tales of Innocence trailer. Even us dedicated DS fans are sometimes impressed with the capabilities creative developers can wring out of our handheld.

This latest Tales installment is due for release in December in Japan, and there's no word on localization, but after seeing this trailer, we can only hope Namco Bandai picks up the slack.

[Thanks, creamsugar!]

Screens of Innocence

Dengeki Online has the latest from Namco Bandai's next entry in the Tales series, and it looks pretty sharp. A lot of these screens appear to be stills from the trailer we saw last month, but it's nice to be able to take a closer look at what we'll be seeing. The character designs really maximize the capabilities of the DS, and it really seems like an improvement from some of what we've seen in the post-Final Fantasy III era of handheld RPGs.

JRPG scan-splosion from V-Jump magazine

A NeoGAFfer called king zell was apparently trying to level up his "Scan Posting" skill, because he created a thread packed densely with all kinds of new images of DS role playing games. There are multiple Final Fantasies, Tales of Innocence, Archaic Sealed Heat, and even an extended preview of Summon Night: Twin Age, which we haven't heard from in quite some time.

Be sure to pace yourself and enjoy every thumbnail-sized halftone screenshot, because this is a lot of RPG news to take in at once. There's bound to be something here for you, unless you hate RPGs, at which point you should stop clicking all those image links. We've mirrored the scans after the break, just in case the originals get stricken with a status ailment.

Tales site offers up some assets

If you're interested in navigating Japanese websites, the online space set aside for Namco Bandai's upcoming Tales of Innocence game is a cup of tea you should be most satisfied with. There's some screens from the game, character bios and an incredible wealth of Japanese text that our minds are incapable of translating. There's also a trailer at the site, but we already showed it to you, fine reader.

Lose your innocence with this Tales of Innocence trailer

Just days following Friday's announcement, a trailer for the latest Tales game has emerged on the internet. Weighing in at a little over two minutes, this trailer for the game manages to cram lots of content into a small package. With several large, expansive environments shown, as well as the game's intense-looking combat, we're very excited by what has been shown here.

Japan gets new Tales game

For those of you familiar with the Tales series of games (no doubt you played Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube?), the DS is set to receive one of the franchise's entries. Tales of Innocence, which is a brand new entry in the series, is currently set to grace the DS in Japan this winter.

No word as of right now on when the game will release or if it will be made available in other territories, however since most of the games in the series have made their way to North America, we're fairly confident the game will make its way here.
