DS Daily: Handhelds and MMOs

We know a lot of DS owners who also play WoW MMOs. Are you among them? Back when this blogger was caught up in the throes of Final Fantasy XI, a quick bout of something-or-other on the DS was perfect filler for all the time spend waiting -- for airships, for people to gather for events, for time to pass, etc. Particularly convenient were "chore" games like Nintendogs or Animal Crossing. Waiting for everyone to get it together before you rolled out to fight a big nasty? Get your daily fruit-picking done while you wait. People still not there? Dig some holes. Etc.

Now, it's been a while since we've been caught up in an MMO, but we're sure that some things haven't changed, and that waiting is still part of the drill from time to time. Were we alone in filling the moments with a second game, or do some of you DS owners take this route?

1. I love playing games online with a lot of people, but I'm no a big RPG fan. However, I would definitely play an MMORPG if one could ever be developed for the DS.

2. I play WoW, but I -always- have my DS sitting next to me with something in it - usually something like Tetris, or, lately Picross, and I grab it up while someone in my group is AFK for a few, or while I'm looking for an instance run. Or while I'm smelting -a bazillion ores-.

3. I'm an MMO Junkie, and honestly, I'm praying for an MMO on the DS in ways that I can't even describe. (Seriously, it wouldn't be *THAT* hard! Think Phantasy Star Online or something!)

But anyways, back to the point...

Generally when I'm sitting around killing time in EverQuest 2 or WoW, I'll run around hatching/breeding Pokemon, stacking blocks in Tetris, or beautifying my town in Animal Crossing. Now that I've gotten my hands on Cooking Mama, I've found myself whipping up a quick dish here or there.

I haven't quite sunk my teeth into Rune Factory yet, but I have a feeling that once I do, I may be picking my DS up to water some turnips or chop some wood.

The only problem is, lately, I have a problem pulling myself away from my DS long enough to play MMO's!

4. I play ffxi, and yes, i usually have my ds with me when im playing. Games that you can quickly pick up or put down like tetris are great for waiting and killing time
