In the UK, Nintendo ads are on TV all the time. I'd usually think this was great, but the ads are really starting to annoy me because they all just push the casual angle and nothing else. If I weren't a gamer, looking at these ads I'd think that the DS only has training games on it and the Wii only has party games on it.
Even when they pain themselves to advertise games that don't have anything to do with brain training, like Metroid or Mario Galaxy, they make them seem kind of dull because they just focus on the people playing it rather than the game itself. They're really cheesy as well, pushing the family-friendly aspect to breaking point. Luckily they didn't show a granny playing Metroid, but I bet they thought about it....
Though on a funnier note, in true "if you can't beat em, join em" style the XBox 360 Christmas campaign is pushing the casual angle as well! Showing how "everyone" can "pick up and play" with games the whole family can enjoy like....errrr........yeah.....
