This officially makes the Naruto license awesome, because all side-scrolling brawlers are at least slightly awesome by default. Of course, it is already well-established that ninjas are cool (and by cool we mean totally sweet.) Jeux-France has a substantial gameplay video of the latest Ninja Council game, Naruto Shippuden Saikyo Ninja Daikesshu 5, as well as some magazine scans. We suggest checking them out even if you're not a fan of the series, because it is always life-affirming, in our opinion, to see a good old-fashioned beat-em-up.

I like it. It's actually really good at times for a shounen show, but the quality varies greatly and you can't expect every anime to be FLCL or Last Exile. It's like watching Transformers or Die Hard - you can have a good time if you sit back and enjoy the ride and don't think too hard about it.
Now, as for the game... I'm a little surprised. I didn't know it was a side-scrolling brawler, I've only played the 3rd Saikyo Ninja Daikesshu game, and contrary to being a quality side-scrolling brawler, it was a crappy platformer with very forced touch-screen microgames whenever you wanted to do a special attack.

The only good Naruto games are Clash of Ninja 3 and 4 for Gamecube (import). One of the best fighters I've ever played, it's oh so fun with friends four-players.
Sidescrollers? I'll pass. But from that scan...Naruto is dead...3 Akatsuki? Yeah, he's dead. And I wouldn't mind. He's probably the worst character in the show...
