The Pokemon website has updated and provided us with more information on some of the Wii/DS connectivity of the title. Now, the page mentions a need for software on the DS, yet does not tell if this software will be included with the Wii game, downloadable from the Wii, one of the DS games, or need to be separately purchased. Personally, we're assuming it'll be downloadable, but the article does make mention of it acting much in the way Wi-Fi does in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl.
The site also mentions that you can bring some of your Pokemon from Pokemon Diamond & Pearl into the Wii game through the use of 'coliseum mode.' This allows you to bring 6 of those Pokemon into the game and persistently record their battle information through Pokemon Battle Revolution.

1. I don't know why this is so difficult to understand. The 'software' you need for connectivity in Pokemon Battle Revolution is Pokemon Diamond or Pearl. This was the case with all the previous Pokemon games on the N64 and Gamecube.
How it works is this. You have your Pokemon team on Diamond or Pearl, and those Pokemon can be used to battle other players or the computer, without transfering them to Pokemon Battle Revolution. OR, you can connect by visiting a Pokemon Center in D&P and transfer some of your Pokemon over to Battle Revolution.
Controlling your Pokemon would be done via the DS touch screen, much the same as it was on Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon XD. Just without a GBA cable.
The main difference this time is instead of the GBA connecting to the Gamecube, the DS connects to the Wii... wirelessly.
